Brother, can you spare a fired case or two ?
« on: August 16, 2009, 08:16:14 PM »
OK, this is kinda weird I know, but here goes anyway :

I am trying to talk myself into getting a 17, and I can't decide between the HMR and the HM2. I've read all about it, and looked at the pictures, but I'm what they call a "tactile learner" (no, not tactical...lol). I have a hard time learning about stuff unless I can hold it in my hand.

Which brings me to the weird part... I would really like to get my hands on some fired cases to look at, but I don't know anyone who has either caliber, and I don't shoot at a public range. I figure that at a range, fired cases should be common as dirt. I would be so grateful and would gladly pay postage if somebody could pick up and mail a couple of fired 17 HMR and 17 HM2 cases to me.

How about it anybody, can you help me out ?

It's kind of a moot point on a Sportster since the 17M2 is no longer made, it was dropped a couple years ago. Here's a comparison pic of several rimfire rounds.

Hey Tim - Is the 17 LR in the photo really the 17 Aguila ? I know I would have to start with the HMR because those are the only barrels they currently make, but once in a while a HM2 barrels surfaces briefly...usually very briefly !
Thanks

Yes, it had several names before it became the 17 Aguila.

I see there are actually 2 17HM2 Sportsters offered on Gunbroker at the moment. One is $300, the other $200. Don't know that I can take advantage of either at the moment, but somebody else might be interested. Take a look if you are !

My local gun shop has had a 17M2 on the shelf for three years, probably ship it to your FFL if you called.

I have both and I like the MRII best. The 17MR2 is by FAR THE MOST accurate rim-fire I have ever fired or owned. That is no small feat.

Back when I first got it I was at the range next to a guy shooting a M1 30Carbine. We got to shooting and talking and a challenge ensued. I waa able to shoot at and hit, each shot he made. That IN his bullet hole. Some disappeared many oblong the 30cal hole, but this was quite a feat as we shot @ 25 and 50 yards!!

Grab a MR2 if you find one!!!
