Water Snake?
« on: August 17, 2009, 09:23:39 AM »
I got a charge out of the following conversation, thought some you may also appreciate the humor.

Yesterday while checking on some deer stands and filling feeders I heard two pistol shots.  When I asked the guy with me what he was shooting at, he replied, “a water snake.”  Its so dry the creek hasn’t had water for a long while, the spring is almost dry and the nearest water of aany size is about five miles away so I couldn’t figure out what he was talking about.

I replied, “a water snake/”  “Yes” he says.  I then ask. what the heck you talking about, there are not any water snake around here, maybe a copperhead or a rattler, but no water snakes”

He said, “when I stepped down off the stairs to the deer blind I was checking I heard a rattling, I looked down and there was a five foot snake at my feet,  I felt the water running down my leg as I was firing two rounds of .357 shoot shells into the snake. His pants were wet and he had powder burns on his lower pants leg and boot.

Now I understand this water snake thing………….. ::) ::) ::)

He probably felt better with a wet spot in the front instead of a warm lumpy spot in the back of his pants.

I can laugh, Alaska don't have snakes.

Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Sourdough, when I was there many years ago we were warned of the "ice snakes."  and given advice to protect ourselves against them.

It's great they don't bite, but just the thought of one crawling up the "back side" and freezing me to death makes me stay away.............. ::) 8)
