New Gun!!!
« on: August 19, 2009, 06:33:05 AM »
Friday I will be getting a Marlin 1895 in 44 mag. I'm going to put a compact scope on it and use it for deer in a couple spots I have that are pretty thick with the longest shot being about 100 yards, and also just a walking around hog killer. The only ammo they have for 44 mag at this gun shop right now is the Hornady Leverevolution in 225 grain. Anybody shot this ammo in a 44? Likes or dislikes? Also, should I zero the rifle a little high at 50 yards or dead on at 100? Any help appreciated!!

The problem that I found in the Hornaday ammo was that it tends to shoot high. I sighted my 30-30 in at 100 yrds and then switched over to the Hornaday and was shooting 2 inches high at 100 yrds I was told that I would need to resight if I switched to another bullet and that proved to be right.
