Here is the latest thundermug :Now tested (video clips).
« on: August 19, 2009, 06:45:14 AM »
Hi. Here is the latest and largest thundermug that I have made, the same compared with my first.
Have built the very secure and heavy.
Has not been tested it yet but I would believe it would deliver fine salute.
Hope it is okay that I post even if it is not cannons.

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

Yes. 50mm and it is very heavy built. Materials are st52.
The "52" means a minimum tensile strength of 52 kg per sq. mm. In SI units, this is 510 MPa. In Imperial units, it's 73,961 (that is, in practice, 74,000 or 75,000) psi.

Those are a couple of great thundermugs! They should speak with authority! Good job! BoomLover

The old ones can get quite large.  The Ft. Ticonderoga museum has one made of bronze that's maybe two feet 30" tall and has to weigh a couple hundred pounds, going from memory.  It might have grown since I saw it though.  A friend saw one in a Paris flea market that was bronze and about 4 feet tall and weighed who knows what, he had no way to get it home.
