Looks like the DNR wants to finish off the few remaining deer in Northern Wisconsin, They should spare a few for the wolves to eat.  >:(

In unit 20 there is 7500 tags available. I can't believe it. I would be surprised if 500 does were shot. I didn't see a deer in three days in unit 20 last week and almost no tracks.

By getting rid of the earn a buck and letting the people manage their own deer by buying bonus tags, it will put the blame on the idiot hunters if they shoot too many antlerless deer.  If you think there aren't enough deer in a zone, don't buy bonus tags.  Its that simple.

Per capita, that is nothing!  Look at 57D.  832 acres total, and 400 bonus tags available.  I'd like to buy about 10 and throw them in the garbage just to take them off the market!

We used to do that. I have a 12 year old hunting for his first year. I will let him shoot one antlerless and no more.

Much of the time the numbers of permits is not just a reflection of deer numbers, but success rates of hunters......and unless there is access to hunt where the deer are at, number of permits issued means squat. Prime example is the Eradication Zone. With unlimited permits for both buck and does, and three months of gun season, there are still more deer per square mile in most of it than is desired, because of limited access. Public land is where the deer get hammered and need fewer antlerless permits. Private land owners already dictate the number of deer taken on their land.
"where'd you get the gun....son?"
