Encore pistol frame won't close
« on: August 20, 2009, 04:21:52 PM »
Was shooting my Encore 15" 22-250 barrel today (new)Fired  3 rounds, was hard to open after each round, but after 3rd shot, action will not close. Was doing okay with a 204 15" barrel before that. Any ideas on what broke or happened?

Factory rounds, feels like it is hitting something solid, chamber empty...............left it at my pistol smith, but he is a very busy man. I have another frame.........

I put the 204 barrel on another frame, works ok, gun smith has 22-250 barrel and frame so I won't know anymore until he calls.I tried the 204 on the other frame and it wouldn't close either, something inside frame had broke or came loose.........

Especially, if you gunsmith is a busy man, you might have been better off sending your frame or barrel to T/C for repair.  Repair there would have cost you nothing but your shipping costs to get it there which are fairly cheap via U. S. Mail.

You can not ship the frame via us postal service It must go by a pricate carrier. unless you have an FFL.

I agree he would have been better shipping it back to TC for repairs unless he has some major custom work done to it.

There is something that is misunderstood.  There are different definitions that apply to what is a firearm.  To the BATF, the frame is the firearm and would be classified as rifle, handgun, etc.  To the U. S. Postal Service, a frame is a "gun part" irrespective of what its use was or is going to be.  If it doesn't have grips or short barrel attached and doesn't look like a handgun, the U. S. Postal Service won't have a problem with you shipping it.

A Person can not ship the serial numbered frame of a handgun via the USPS. Only an FFL can ship a S/N frame via usps.
A private person can ship any other part except loaded ammo trough the USPS
