New .50 cal ?
« on: August 22, 2009, 06:44:32 AM »
I have a new ML barrel coming next week don't even know what it is yet other than .50 cal and unfired,  Do you fellers really think its worth the dollars to convert to .25ACP? And how well do they shoot solid lead conicals?  I am not set up for sabots right now I normally use patched ball, I do have a mold for a hollow based conical that shot well out of some of my other rifles. Also I mostly use GOEX FFG black loose powder, I have like ten pounds of it and don't wanna change till I have to. Anyone use real BP?

I picked this up in a purchase with a 7x57 but it's should work out well because my 1in70 twist TC renagade don't shoot sabots fer crap and I am gonna hunt on The army post this year and they don't allow patched ball. (Fire hazard they say) I can buy some sabots but I hope the solids will work as I already have a bunch of them. ;D  Thanks Bob

No, get the MU plug from Nick.
See other posts.

If you want a .25ACP plug, I'll sell you mine.
But both are a huge improvement over factory.

Get the MU breech plug and shoot solids........Venison in the freezer tells ya it works.  I used 470 gr. T/C Maxis and I don't think they're made any more........I've still got about 20 deer worth to shoot.
