Farmer from Canada looking for some antelope
« on: August 23, 2009, 02:28:14 PM »
Looking to help out my uncle . He is driving up for some antelope with one problem, no where to go. Any one with some advice on where he could start to look or hunt.He would like a water hole as he is hunting with a bow. Also would like to stay close as he can to the sask border. Any help or suggestions would be great.

There is alot of Block Management land 25 miles south of Chester, Mt off Hwy 223 go down to where the hwy intersects with 366 and east or west until you come up to green boxes to sign in.  You will need to obtain block management maps from Helena Office of the Fish Wildlife and Parks or call.  Get the phone number from this link http://fwp.mt.gov/default.html

I may be back over there this next weekend or running clear over to Havre with my hunting partner.

I missed a nice trophy class buck this last weekend with a nice 17" set of horns, good lower mass that curled inward.  Him and I got a date, again!

Thanks for the info. I know he was talking about staying in Malta , but he would drive a liitle further if it meant a good hunting spot.He is not sure where he is going ,he just knows he has his tag and wants to get one with his bow pretty bad. He would rather spend his time hunting then driving. Are there any antelope around Malta or his better off to keep on trucken?

If he has an Antelope Archery Only 900 tag there are many places that he can go.  Any place that Antelope roam  ;D  Have him call Helena FWP office and see if they will mail him out the Block Management maps, as there are many places that are also BLM Land, as well all the Block Management thru the state.  Some of the green boxes will have maps, I have an extra for the area that I was in, and can mail him a copy if you would like, just PM me with his address.

The Block Management area is called, Marias River BMA / East Side #10
