opinions of 20g 500 Super Bantam packages??
« on: August 23, 2009, 11:55:53 PM »
My son is 11 and big enough for a shotgun. I am looking at the 20 Super Bantam with adjustable synthetic stock, 22 in vr barrel and accuchokes.

I have a synthetic stock 500 in 12 ga and I'm plenty happy with it except the comb is too low (until I built it up with duct tape).

Any comments on the super bantam for fast growing boys?

thanks.

For the money, I think it is a good starter.  I bought one for my 13 year old nephew and 13 year old granddaughter to start out with.  My nephew lives out of state and visits for a couple of weeks in the summer.  The kid sprouted up like a weed in the last year and he is now almost as tall as I am.  The stock, in its longest LOP configuration is too short for him (about 13" LOP).  However, there is a coupon with the gun which entitles you to a full sized stock at half price, which is about $17 IIRC.  I sent the coupon and the check in but haven't received the new stock yet.
I think it is a good starter and when I get that stock, I'm gonna shoot some clays with it. It's pretty light and handy and with the choke tubes, it is versatile for a starter.
