I need some advice on a problem. I've got a S&W 629 (no dash) and am putting a red dot scope on it. I bought the B-Square mount kit for the Pre-93 smith. After taking off the original rear sight, you are supposed to mount the B-square mount nut into the recessed area. However, the first time, I had to lightly tap it in, as directed in the instructions but it ended up sitting at an angle. I thought it was a defective B-square part. They were nice and sent me another "mount nut and nylon ball". After starting to try this one, it appears to want to go in at an angle as well. Therefore, I think it may be the revolver itself. Any thoughts? The recess area looks straight and all, but..... Not sure if and how to mod the revolver area.
With the mount nut installed with this angle, the base mounts ok, but the nut will not engage properly and comes loose after about 6 shots. Wondering if I should just accept the angled mount nut and mod the base (its aluminum) and possible get a longer screw.
thanks,
