Browning Hi-Power?

I just got a Browning Hi-Power 9mm with 13 round magazines.  Very nice pistol.

Was wondering how interchangable are the Hi-Power magazines?  Will my 13 round pistol take a 10 round Hi-Power magazine? 

And how long does it take the trigger, hammer, slide, safety to loosen up?  Have not seen a new gun that is as stiff as the Hi-Power when new!

I love my Hi-Power, although I rarely carry it (the 9mm thing). That being said , you need to shoot the hell out of your new gun, that will help loosen it up and make you a better shot at the same time.

Hi Powers have a heavy mainspring. The hammer is always going to be heavy for thumb cocking. Mine is even more difficult as I had to bob the hammer spur to prevent it from chewing up the web of my hand. The small thumb safety will feel stiff as well. The feel can be improved by installing an extended model. The trigger can be greatly improved by removing the mag disconnect. As a bonus, the mags will then drop free. I use aftermarket 15 rd mags for my Hi Power in addition to the 13 rd ones. Don't own any 10 rd, but as they are neutered 13 rd mags, they will work as well. Nice little pistols.

Great purchase!  I've had three and am now down to two, a 9mm and a 40sw.  My first was rebuilt by Bill Loughridge at Cylindar and Slide Shop...fabulous!!!!  You'll need to shoot is a bit and it will loosen up though not a heck of a lot.

I found the weight of the forty felt better to me.  With the Houge finger gruve grip it pointed like a finger.  So much so that I was able to shoot from the hip into the circle on the IDPA targets at three to five feet.  Like a dummy I traded it for a three screw Ruger!  Sure miss that gun!

I put slim line grips on all of mine.  Checkered rosewood speigals on the 9 and a micarta on the 40.
