Barnes XPB, .452, 250gr
« on: October 02, 2003, 04:28:35 AM »
Has anyone had any experience with them out of 454 Casull.  I shoot a Taurus Raging Bull and have excellent results with Hornady XTP/MAG in 300gr.  With Barnes being as pricey as they are I would sure appreciate all 1st hand reloading and range information.  Please note if you did your work-up with another manufacture of weapon.  Thanks.

I just recently tried the Barnes 250gr XPB in my Ruger SRH. Using a heavy load of H110 (from the Barnes book) the XPB shot tighter groups at 50yds than any of the Hornady XTP bullets that I've been using.

I have been shooting with open sights and it would really take a scope to determine what this loads actual potential is at 50-100yds.

By the way, Barnes sells these bullets in boxes of 20, so the cost to try some is not too bad. It took me a total of 10 rounds to get them in the center of my target at 50yds.
