REALLY OLD Stevens single shot questions
« on: August 24, 2009, 05:30:08 PM »
Well, my dad sent his old shotgun home with me to give some TLC.

here is whats on the barrel from top to bottm:

patent date August 18, 1913

410 guage
12mm

the SN is 18* on the barrel and 00* on the receiver and the barrel seems to ahve VERY FAINT rifling...

can anyone tell me about this shotgun?

I'm not sure about your gun, but it wasn't that uncommon around the turn of the last century to reem the chamber on a single shot 44-40 to make a .410 2.5" shotgun. I know of 2 of these, one of which is to be passed down to me in the future. You mention rifling which makes me wonder if this is the case on this gun. Measure the chamber length prior to firing if that is your intention for this piece.
