Getting to Nutbush games lands in NC
« on: August 25, 2009, 03:25:31 PM »

I attempted to visit the games lands at Nutbush point today in Vance County, N.C. and could find no access.  I followed highway 1329 until I came upon a road marked "Private, No Tresspassing" and so went no further than that.  How exactly can you get to these game lands?   I am glad I took the trouble to scout out the area before actually going there during hunting season and finding no access.

not familiar with this particular game land but I have found that many have very few access roads and when they do the gates are only open during huntin season. best bet is to find a gas station that is near and ask around. google earth can help I can find 4wheeler trails on our land with it.

Call Raleigh.  Ask for the name and number of the landowner who controls the access or ask for the name and number of your local game warden.  Would think either or both of these could be a big help to you.

With dove season coming up, the gates may be open now.

I spoke with the local wildlife officer about this and he said to keep driving past the no tresspassing sign until reaching the small parking area.  If I experience any trouble I should call him. Hope I don't get shot!
