Kennedy dies from cancer at the age of 77.

A marked victory for those that feel the SECOND AMENDMENT is a CONSTINTUTIONAL right that should not be messed with by anyone, let alone a loony like Ted.

I guess all the women of the world can fell a little bit safer now.
It is a fact that Ted's car has killed more people than my guns!

Let's hope this is the end of a long line of career politicians from the state of MASS.

Same as my post called ONE LESS AGAINST THE SECOND AMENDMENT!
I hadn't read this post when I posted mine. Sorry.

Now let's see how they try to get around the fact that when Kerry was running for Pres, Ted helped get the law changed in Mass. that the governor (a republican at the time) could not appoint a replacement if Kerry had won.
It must go up for a special election.
I know the DEMS were working on getting this law reversed because of Ted's health and the fact that Mass has a Dem Governor now.
I don't think they got it changed before Ted died.
The Dems are afraid of a special election now.
Ted's seat might go to a Republican.
One can only hope!

Whether replaced by a dumocrap or republican or an independent or for that matter by a chimpaneze they can't be worse than he was.

I can't disagree with that. I'm hoping for the chimp.

I wonder what kind of machinations have been going on to replace him in the senate. The stakes are high, so I imagine quite a bit of theater related to the replacement.

I certainly do not miss Senator Teddy.    His left wing lunacies were definitely out of touch.   I am thankful that he is meeting his Judgement now.   I have tried to forget about him over the years but with all the media coverage it spurred a little limerick I learned in High School in 1971.   It goes like this:

There once was a Senator from Mass.
Who went out looking for a piece of a--
He lucked out and found her
Then messed up and drowned her
Now his chances for President have passed.

But his Judgement is here and now................you reap what you sow ........

I'm just tryin' to keep everything in balance, Woodrow. You do more work than you got to, so it's my obligation to do less. (Gus McCrae)

Schumer is the now the chief lunatic at large in the senate. The torch has been passed. Here's an excerpt from the NY Times that explains a bit about how the replacement will be chosen:

Senator Edward M. Kennedy has asked the Massachusetts Legislature to change state law to let the governor, currently a fellow Democrat, fill vacant Senate seats. Abandoning the current system, in which voters choose, would be undemocratic, even at the request of such a respected lawmaker.

With the health care battle heating up in Washington, every senator’s vote is critical. It is not hard to imagine that Mr. Kennedy, who has made national health care a high priority, wants to make sure Democrats will not lose a vote if he is unable to keep serving because of his terminal brain cancer. Under current law, an empty Senate seat can be filled only by special election, which could leave the seat open for more than five months.

Massachusetts governors used to fill Senate vacancies. But in 2004, the Democratic majority in the State Legislature changed the law to require a special election. The leaders were concerned that if Senator John Kerry was elected president, Gov. Mitt Romney would appoint a fellow Republican. To change back now would look like an unseemly amount of partisanship in setting the rules for who goes to Congress.

Questor I have to disagree. Through God's judgment all wrongs are righted. The only fairness there is, is when you are before God. Life is not fair in any way, but death is the time when all wrongs are righted and we are all equal.
