Range Day with my Chrony

Hey Guys,
Got out to the range and Chronoed 150 grains Pyro Pellets and 240 grain XTPs.
Average velocity over 2-6 shot strings out of the Omega
150 grains Pyro Pellets 2298 fps.
150grains RS (loose) ave 2038 fps.
110grains 777 2052 fps,
110 gr RS 1862 fps.
Best group 240 XTP's .8" @ 100 yards over 150 grains pellets.
Shot a few Dead Centers but I forgot my setting tool and didn't shoot worth a hoot with the snouts getting bent up.

Don't feel bad.  I shot a group like that with my Pedersoli Tyron side lock once.  After working on it a bit, it started shooting better.

Shame on you, Crow-Feathers!  Be kind & gentle to Omega.  Some day he too may be enchanted by a REAL front stuffer.  He still has to work out of the centerfire rifle high velocity small caliber mindset.

THAT is terrific performance with such a hot load. No wonder your moose are falling dead as snot!

Someone should let "Crow-Feather" know that an Omega is a "real" front-stuffer, you can see the hammer fall, and it is far more "American Muzzleloading" than a Pedersoli.

Thank goodness,  :o then there is hope for the gun. Here I was worried it wouldn't amount to anything and I'd have to garage sale it for what ever I could get!  :)  :-D

It's nice that Omega can take some good natured ribbing about such a nice group.  I thought his reply was great.  Not only is he a great shot, but he is a friendly good natured person.

If I take a Remington 30-06 and load the powder and bullet from the muzzle, does that make it a muzzle loader?

No. It means you have a rifle with no primer AND loose powder in your magazine with barrel obstruction. :-D

Oh come on - you put a primed case in first - just like a disk for a shot shell primer, it is the primer holder for my 30-06 muzzle loader.

Randy,

I think I'll pass on pounding on a cleaning rod trying to get a 180 grain spitzer down a rifle bore just to prove a point.  Especially with a primed case sitting below it - even with the safety on.

Very well done, He went down like he was hit by a side lock.  But it was too far out for my tired eyes to hit with iron sights.  My congrats on a production well done.

Actually, the hammer did fall-- as it was an Encore that was used.

After my Dad took his first caribou with a .270, he took his second with a Thompson Hawken-- which turned out to be the biggest animal of the four.
