Why have tacticle gun sales skyrocketed?
« on: August 30, 2009, 07:23:50 AM »
With all the millions of tacticle guns, equipment and training being bought in the last year, is there a trend in this country to actively resist any more commie anti-gun laws.  Maybe people bought those millions of handguns, rifles and shotguns so that if they became "illegal", they could turn them in voluntarily?

I think it goes deeper than "they wanted to get one before they became illegal".  What do you think?
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

Let’s just say, “Be Prepared!”

I do think that a vast number of people are truly concerned about the direction our leaders are taking this country and are arming themselves accordingly.

I suppose your theory is possible. In my case, the purchase of a rifle that was clearly marked as a "Tactical" model (even has "tactical" engraved on the barrel) had nothing to do with it being a so called tactical, nor had anything to do with any perceived notions of future anti-gun laws.

It simply was one of the few rifles available at the time which had what I wanted in terms of receiver, barrel length, and barrel contour. I disliked the the so called "tactical" stock right from the beginning and knew I would not like it when I bought the rifle, and thus figured on replacing it right from the start. Ironically, I replaced the stock with one that might be considered even more of a "tactical" stock and which is indeed used by many law enforcement SWAT teams across the country.

On the other hand, one of the big reasons I'd like to purchase an AR-15 style rifle is so I can get one before the Gov. decides I can't have one. The fun factor for one of those rifles would seem to peg the needle. In addition, the AR seems like the best platform choice to use in a rifle that will help me fight the commies off before they kill me while trying to take it away from me. Thus the choice to purchase an AR could very well be motivated by my perceived notions of political change.

Some gave good reasons, but one overlooked also is that the public has discovered the tacticle gun makes a great varmint gun.  That is the reason many of us bought one, two, or three.  .223, 22-250, 308.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

The .223 rifles are fun. If you get one in a configuration that fits you well, then they can be a lot of fun to shoot. Especially when ammo prices are low.

I attribute some of the phenomenon to the general acceptance of the "black rifle" into the tradition of typical recreational firearms. It wasn't long ago that a lot of avid shooters had an irrational sentiment against this type of gun. They thought it was an evil assault weapon. Now it's been discovered. The gunsmiths have made them accurate, reliable, affordable (relatively), and versatile. .223 is a great center fire cartridge because it's got plenty of kaboom out to 300 yards for target shooting, and doesn't recoil much.

I don't own one myself, but I see a lot of value in them.

Another thing about these guns is that when they are used as defense weapons, the perp stands about zero percent chance of surviving a reasonably well placed shot. These things are much more effective than handguns, and not as messy as shotguns.

There are so many applications to which this type of rifle recommends itself that it is quite surprising that it has been largely overlooked until recently by the majority of shooters.

The Lou paper today actually had a story about people buying large quantities of ammo and hoarding it because of osama obama. I'm surprised they printed it. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Personally, I think the PRIMARY impetus behind the gun and ammo sales is quite simple. Folks are damn tired of the government taking away their GOD given rights and they are getting ready for an all out war to take them back. What the spark will be that ignites it I dunno but I'm betting osama obama will strike the match and when he does the explosion might blow up in his face.

There is a limit beyond which Americans will not be pushed. I think the country is rapidly approaching that point. If former active duty and current active duty miliary really meant the oath they took then they will not side with the government when the time comes. I think osama knows it and that's why he wants his own personal army loyal only to him.

The likely reinstatement of the "assault weapons ban" probably also has a lot to do with it.

You are carrying a lot of stuff for one who might be on the run.

I have had this conversation with a few of my close buddy's on what we would take if/when the time comes.
There are 4 of us that might band together.

We have all decided on a good single action in 44 cal.
This way we can all use the same ammo.
1 or 2 of us will have a lever action in the same cal as the handguns for the same reason.
For longer shots 1 of us will have a 30-30, ammo can be found anywhere and will take most any game.
For sure there will be at least 1 pump shotgun, maybe two with extended mags.
I voted for a 22 single shot also.
You can carry a lot of ammo without all the weight & bulk.
A lot less noise also!
We are still debating about a black gun in 223.
More than likely it will be along also.

If you are thinking about making a stand you must think in terms of ease of carry, plenty of ammo, what ammo are you likely to find almost anywhere if you run out, simple guns that have fewer parts to go wrong.
Two knives each, rope, disposable lighters, a few pots & pans & cups, some good camo hunting cloths, first aid gear, some of those flash lights that you shake to make work, a compass & map, and COFFEE!!!
The rest you can acquire as needed where ever you find it.

This is just our thoughts on the matter.

I think that one reason tacticals have been so popular is that non "sportsmen" are buying guns.  Lots of people buying guns now don't give a rodent's rump about duck hunting.  They want to be able to protect themselves.  They recognise that gun rights are being erroded and they know that now is the time to buy a gun.  They go for the baddest looking black rifle they can afford because they don't want to be 'outgunned' by the next guy.  The subtleties of what may be banned tomorow are secondary to the desire to get an AK47.  Because it's a friggin AK47!

I'm not saying that everyone who buys tacticals are unsophisticated gun owners.  I know that's not the case.  I'm saying that unsophisticated gun buyers are drawn to the appearance of menacing power, and the tactical gun has that in spades.
