I took an oath 5 times to obey the orders of the President of the United States.

Swampy is kinda correct here, but only as far as he goes.  The oath of enlistment does say:  (Emphisis added as Officers take a different oath)
"I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Just a couple of points.  The allegence to the Constitution is first and therefore, according to the rules of construction, paramount.  Just like the orders of the President come before the "officers appointed over" the oath taker.  But note the caveat to obeying orders; "according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

Therefore the oath to obey is not without qualification.  i.e. no Nuremburg Defense.  It is not an absolute oath like the one "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same..."

Since you brought up Nuernberg( almost the German spelling) the Oath rendered by German soldiers during the 3rd Reich  gave Allegiance to the Fuehrer and no " backdoor exit" , a big big difference to the Oath given by US military. The Trials in above city are simply " The Victor makes judgement as he pleases." IMO

I would be watching for a couple things.. Change in the wording of the oath that the military takes and the establishment of a national police force that I garantee will pledge thier loyalty to the government. The things we see happening in our country today is pure crazyness. Is this 2009 or 1936. Also remeber that the German brownshirts started out as a political organization similar to ACORN...

Someone asked if the media backed Hitler..surely most every "Zeitung" and "Tagblatt" in Germany endorsed him in their frenzy, just as some have gone into a frenzy here over the current admin. As the Obama admin has hollywood on it's siode, so too did the German film industry respond to Hitler.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism_and_cinema

As far as "signing up" on any obvious group..there are times when one should appear "wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove" and not be silly enough to put our names on any document that could be used against us. We as conservatives already suffer from a natural handicap compared to the Marxists..we tend to speak truthfully and "tell it like it is".

As far as the loyalty to either the president or the Constitution..if loyalty by a citizen were more to the president..how could a president ever be legally censured or impeached ?
I submit; The Constitution never envisioned an "imperial presidency"...neither did congress, or they never would have enacted the 2 term limit..

You are right about that. Not only did the constitution not envision it, it clearly and specifically worked to prevent it. The president has no imperial powers and never should. Unfortunately, our current president feels different and that is why he has 17 unconstitutional Czars and is working towards a goal of 33 of these unconstitutional, behind the scene, illegal & secret policy makers doing who the hell knows what.

He was at 31 Czar's, but with the latest Green Jobs Czar resigning he is at 30 according to this site!, but the way I see it going, he will continue to appoint more and more to route his way around the Constitution as he doesn't seem to want to abide by it at all!

Quote
Barack Obama’s Czar System – which has recently come under scrutiny for some repellent, even paranoid, statements by his “Green Czar” Van Jones, a onetime “9-11 truther” who calls Republicans “assholes” on television – is an entirely different matter. This is directly an affair of state and seemingly an end run around the Separation of Powers. According to an article recently published at Examiner.com by Patrick McMahon, there are now thirty-one of these czars, covering areas from terrorism to domestic violence. Congress has not vetted a single one of them, as far as I know. Indeed, with only a couple of exceptions (Dennis Ross, etc.), we know who few of them are. Are others as extreme as Mr. Jones? Who knows? All we know is that they are there and that Obama (or someone) approved them. We don’t know exactly what their authority is and what they are supposed to do ultimately. They are a completely new part of our Executive Branch, invented by the President and/or his advisors. Was this what the Framers intended when they created the three branches of our government with all the checks and balances?

Unlike Mr. Jones, I am no lawyer, and obviously not a Constitutional one, but it strikes me there is a problem here. And it could be very embarrassing to Mr. Obama. No doubt this is why, as Byron York points out, the mainstream media has been so reluctant to cover this story, only the WaPo and CBS chiming in at this point, although they were late to the party and relatively perfunctory. The former Newspaper of Record has yet to log in. Had Bush appointed thirty-one czars outside the normal Congressional approval system the MSM would have been all over it like the proverbial wet suit, declaring a coup d’etat in the making. But, as of now, the MSM has imposed omerta.

OATH KEEPERS: ORDERS WE WILL NOT OBEY

I was not there as I was not born yet but during WWII the US rounded up the legal US Japanese citizens and put them in detention centers, and this was done by US military who took the very same oath.
I know that it was a time of war against Japan but these were legal US citizens.
Some may honor that oath, others may not!

Texas would do just fine economically, and as far as her southern border is concerned it could be maintained leak free if some wanted it to be. The northern border might be the problem, what with the refugee problem and all!  ;)

With the law Bush forced thru congress most likely without them even reading it yes. But enforcing it is quite another matter. I think such an act on their part would result in all out civil war or perhaps a revolutionary war would be a more appropriate name for it cuz folks will revolt at that point I believe.

For any of you that might be interested, I got this information from a friend that made it to the March on Washington Saturday.

"......those of us assembled that he had been talking with a capitol police office who is a close friend of his ... the officer told him the 'official count for the capitol police was 2.2 MILLION people attended that march. The largest gathering in US history."

Now if that doesn't open some of our politicians eyes, I don't know what will?

For those of you that served the country and took the oath. At the time did you understand the meaning of the constitution as well as you do today? Constitutional law seems to change with the wind depending on the number of Justices that are conservative vs. liberal. Each year rulings are made or overturned in the interpretation of the constitution. It seems each year more and more outlandish claims are attempted,,,,,,,,,,, some pass.

I am not saying any unkind words against the heroes that serve in our military. However being a young force by nature is there a comprehension of the ideals set up in the language of the constitution? In today's military will they shoot the XO that is ordering the murder of civilians? Will they follow orders? Or will they simply do nothing and be court marshaled? I would hope these brave men and women would not fire upon their own people. But to much is at chance and none of us could stand against our military force with any likelihood of winning. Even if local national guard units assisted the people. The results of fighting our military would be more devastating than The War of Northern Aggression.

In any case even if a small thorn in their side. Anyone who would appose tyranny would be rightful in their choice.

Just suppose for a minute that the US military won't be used internally in the US. What about the so called American Police Force that is taking over a converted prison.
They won't be taking any oath to defend the constitution. Who will they answer to?

They will probably answer to their maker when they come under the gun of the armed citizen and organized American Patriots.

I can near guarantee you that armed uniformed patrols not recognized by the local citizenry will come under fire.  There is not such thing as a 'American Police Force' and anyone wearing those 'colors' will be considered 'moving targets' and 'the enemy' during any uprising.

Brown shirts will first be used in the cities and that is where they will be contained; they get nervous in the countryside and other places where they don't have street lights or a macdonalds at every corner, but they will make good targets.......
