On Target Technologies
« on: September 01, 2009, 03:41:20 AM »
Does anyone have any opinions or dealings with On Target Technologies?  I am looking into ordering a .308 barrel from them for my pro hunter and was just looking for some opinions.  Also how long do they take to make the barrel?

Thanks Breck

The wait will be a long one, but there is no denying that the quality is the highest you can find anywhere.

With that being said, www.matchgrademachine.com is my choice for Contender and Encore barrels. The turnaround is generally no more than 5 weeks, and the quality is exceptional. Plus, they may even have what you are looking for in their existing inventory.

What is the cost difference?  OTT will cost around $500 and that does not include s&h.

Nevermind, I just found the price on the website.

thanks though!

I have had three MGM barrels. They all shot great. My 300-221 (300 Whisper) would shoot one ragged 5 shot group at 100 Yards. They sure didn't cost $500.  ;)

Some of my best-ever groups have been fired with MGM barels. The 2 targets below were recorded using a 26" MGM barrel in 6.5 Bullberry IMP (aka 6.5x30-30 AI).

And by the way, their baked-on finish option is something I highly recommend as it is extremely durable, an important consideration if you'll be hauling it through the woods with regularity.

By the way, the top photo was with fireforming loads and was a 10-shot string, IIRC.

OTT's are quality made barrels. I like the ones I have. The wait can be long but only Mike can tell you how long.

Don't like long waits, but still want a quality, accurate barrel, contact MGM!!!

OTT 16" Encore 257x225IMP

OTT 13" Step-Up, full 1", G2 6.5TC/U

OTT 20" Contender 6.5X225IMP

If you want a high quality barrel made to your specs go with MGM. They do fantastic work and you will have the barrel in a short time. The price will be more than fair also.
