FA age question
« on: September 01, 2009, 05:16:15 AM »
I hope you guys don't mind me pestering you with questions, but I have another.

I have a FA .454 field grade, 7.5", adjustable sights. It has a serial # of DF 21XX. Can somebody give me an estimate of when it was 'born'? I understand it is 'early', but I don't even know when FA began making firearms.

Thanks for any info.

That would be an early FG. I think if you call FA they will tell you. I am not sure what year they introduced the field grade guns. I am certain they have their own serial numbers.

The "D" in the prefix stands for the Mdl. 83 in .454 Casull (which began manufacture in 1983) , the "F" stands for Field Grade. I'm guessing it was made about 1986. Calling FA is the best advice.
