Wood Stock on old H&R
« on: September 01, 2009, 10:04:21 AM »
I noticed an H&R shotgun behind the counter at a pawn shop today, next to a couple others.
What made it stand out was the wood - very nice.
So I asked to see it and turns out it was an H&R Model 048, and the wood was awesome, looked like walnut, lots of grain.
I thought maybe I could put the stock on my NEF, but the design was a lot different, no way it would fit.
Too bad, that was real pretty wood.
Wish they still used wood like that!

The TDC and BC stock sets are both checkered walnut, some are fairly plain, some are very nice.  ;)

Fellows, sure those are wonderful stocks. I've seen some real good pretty modern laminated too.
But I'm too cheap and broke for those. :)
It just amazed me how pretty that old stock was, on a shotgun that was sold cheap in it's day.
It was a different world back then...
