Our water trapping season opens Nov. 1.Time is starting to fly.
Now I have to wait for a warm spell to get the dipping done that I could'nt earlier. My conventions are all done,so now I can concentrate on getting my equipment ready and also work on my much delayed new catalog. Hope you gents are all enjoying the best time of year.  Tom

Apple,I prefer dipping at around 70 degrees, seems like I hardly ever get to do that. I have dipped my 330s at 30 degrees and used them the next day.But like I said the warmer the better. If you must dip in colder temps be sure to thin your dip a bit more with coleman fuel.  Tom

Now I've not had to resort to this tactic, but if you have to dip in cold out door temps, in addition to thining the dip a bit more, make certian that your traps are on the hot side of warm before you dip them.  The heat in the steel will make for a thinner coating and aid in drying.

It is getting close, isn't it?!!!
We open on Nov 1 also. Probably a little "early" in our neck of the woods for fur quality, but it is hard to make myself wait any longer than I have had to already all year long.
I still have a lot of equipment to go through, adjust, fix, dye, etc. myself. The cooler temps sure seem to make me feel a lot better. Hard to drive down the road to work without scanning field edges, draws, little creeks, etc. and of course the cooler temps sure brought about a mass suicide of coons lately. The cooler nights really have them moving around more now.
Lot of harvesting going on, too. The landscape really changes fast in some sections when fields get leveled.

Well, today was your day.
Nice and warm, and plenty of breeze to blow the odor to the neighbor's house. (and to help dry the traps)

Here in KY it don't open till Nov. 11 I think. I can't wait. I've spent the last three days looking for coon sign up and down the river. I dug two pockets, made one cubby, and placed two pvc pipes in the bank in prime locations. I also baited them today. I am going to check for any action tomorrow.

All of our season opens up at once. On November 11 the fox, coon, possum, rat, coyote, beaver, skunk, and mink season opens. We also have an extended beaver season in the month of February. Otter are protected, but bobcats are legal this year. They also open Nov. 11. The yearly limit is 3 per trapper.

I would just like to say good luck to all of you and keep us updated on your catches and just running the trapline. I always love to hear a good story about a good day on the line.
