Evolved Habitats ShotPlot ????
« on: September 02, 2009, 01:53:46 AM »
Hello, I'm thinking about planting a food plot. Where I hunt, there's an old road (its almost wide enough for 2 trucks). Well there's one road that comes to a dead end and we never use it, so I wanna plant something there. There's a pretty good opening in the trees over the road. I'm trying to decide what to buy. Evolved Habitats ShotPlot, Biologic Hot Spot, or some other kind thats cheap. If you've ever used any of these, how'd it work? What would be the best? And also, how deep do you have to cover ShotPlot? I hunt in Tennessee. I think no till or no plow would be the best. So I think it's between Biologic Hot Spot and Whitetail Institute Secret Spot. Which one works the best? Thanks

I used Shot Plot last season after the first "wave" of deer ate all of my peas and soy beans to the ground.  I broadcast the Shot Plot into existing sorghum like no till and it germinated pretty well with no soil cover.  I assume if there had been no sorghum I would have run the Shot Plot over with a piece of chain link fence and it would have been fine, that is to say 1/4" of cover.

I also recommend that you check the posts in the Wildlife and Land Management Forum on this Board for similarities and  more information.
