forcefully quarantine in event of health emergency ... contrived or otherwise?
restricted access to contaminated areas ... berming and clearing?
destroy any material ... related to health emergency or not? firearms and ammo?
prohibit assemblage of persons ... gathered for worship? peaceful protest of police action?
require in-state health providers to vaccinate ... this sounds like another puzzle piece with HC reform. If you're on Gov Ins, thou shalt take the shot. My daughter is planning to enter service next year and we're concerned she'll be forced to take the HPV.

Wouldn't it be really wierd if those Massachucetts liberal, gun grabbing, Kennedy electing, socialists actually had the publics best interest in mind and were truely preparing for dire circumstances when a deadly epedemic could wreck havoc in a densely populated state? The thought blows me away!

Crusty;
  What would be more weird...would be to hear you disagree with any of the most recent leftist hare-brained ideas that are coming down the pike nearly every day now.
  Does not the potential exercise of raw, unprovoked and arbitrary police power bother you ? Do you realize it was this type of "little moves" which were initiated by the Nazis and those other Fascists in Italy about 65 years ago.

  Teamnelson;
   The peditrician who cares for my grandaughter keeps "suggesting" that myDaughter-in-law get those series of shots (with unknown long range effects) for the 10 year old.
  I guess some out there ASSUME every woman is going to act like a little piggy when growing up. My grandaughter is being trained and raised better than that..so the pediatrician may as well start whistling Dixie.
Obviously you brought your daughter up with values also, so requiring such shots for her you probably believe, is like requiring dual wheels all around on a Mini-Cooper...an unnecessary exercise in futility, not to mention the risks.
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Crusty;
  Do you remember the huge, scary swine flu threat in the 1970s ? Jimmy "Bumbles" Carter had millions of swine flu immunizations rushed through production before fall arrived. Many people , especially the elderly were given the immunizations. At least several died from side effects of the immunization, while not one died from the swine flu !
   Guys;
   My wife had an appt with our doctor today and she asked about flu shots, including swine flu. The doctor hastened to remind us that many more people have died of the common flu this year, than with swine flu.
  So I said..."Just a bunch of hype, huh ?"   The Dr just smiled that smile he gets when we hit "right on" with a suggestion.
  Has anyone considered this ? Wasn't long ago when Rham Immanuel said.."never waste the opportunity presented by a crisis".

  Could thjis just be another manufactured "crisis" to avert attention fron real mess-ups by the Obamanites ? Could it be an opportunity to enact laws such as the above which violate the Constitution 5 different ways ?

Hey I am all for it if it mean we can restrict Congress from meeting.
I still think they framers should have stoped at the first line.  Congress shall make NO LAW!
Other than that I have the first amendment right to assemble.
and the 4th amendment against unreasonible search and seizure.
Looks like they are going to use a pandemic to push through thier adgenda by quarentining the opposition and removing or destroying anything they deem fit.
If this were Passed four years ago the ACLU, The Liberals, and the news media would be siteing Nazi Germany, the imprisonment of the Japanese (DONE under a Democrat!) and Stalin who sectioned off citizens and would not allow the basic freedoms.

  Guys;
  Remember when G.R.I.D.S.  (gay releted immune deficiency syndrome) first showed up back in the 1980s ? All the "experts" thought it was going to be a pandemic, especially after it was renamed to AIDS.
  Some doctors meekly suggested that those who had raging, virulent cases of that malady be quarrantined..the liberals (such as those in Mass)..."had a cow"..  they were extemely concerned with queer rights..under the Constitution, of course..

   I guess they fought like that.,.."for the children".. :D ;D

yeah, that would be so weird as to be a 180 out from their already proven habit of action. But let's say for arguments sake it's sincere. I am also sincere in saying that it is wrong to infringe or encroach on those rights protected ... not created ... by our Constitution, for even the most sincere cause. Of such things benevolent dictatorships are born.

I won't be taking any 'flu' shot.  Sounds like population control at worst or a money making scheme at best.
I'll take my chances, thank you very much anyway government man.

and...powderman, don't be so hard on those Massachusetts folks. There are some good people there, I can name 3, my niece, her husband and their fine young son.  There has to be a few more.

The one thing I'm waiting for, with all this ''emergency legislation'' being pushed thru is, when is the head of a police dept. or a high ranking officer in a branch of the military going to speak out. Whose going to be the first one that opens up and says, I'm not sending my men in to harms way for this crap.
There is going to be a breaking point where somebody in LE or the military is going to step out and say enough is enough. I just wonder if it'll be soon, or after the first shots are fired. gypsyman

CRusty,
  No distortion of facts..i can recall that "swine flu scare" from the 70s..can you ?

  I pointed out the AIDS epedemic as an example of "liberal logic" ! Yes, there is a disease transmission differential; I doubt that a person with swine flu is likely to knowingly and deliberately transmit swine flu...

 Rio..
   I'm sure there are some decent, sensible and conservative folks living in Mass..but I expect most of them live outside the cities in the western half of the state, same as NY and PA.
  The Berkshires can be beautiful...

Iron Glow,
I think the Mass Conservitive is either a:
Liberal that has been attacked by the "people he has been trying to help" and now wants a gun.
Someone who thinks the 75% taxes are a little to high but not unreasonable.
or a Liberal from Virginia that got moved North by their company.

The truly silly part of this rush to legislation is: most, if not all, of the NECESSARY powers listed in these bills are already on the books and readily enforceable. I question what need any healthcare provider would have to forcibly enter someone's home; or why anyone else would under provision of community health. Seems to me, if the "infected" individual is in their home, they are unlikely to be "infecting" others.

Team Nelson:
 The benevolent part would be subject of interpretation and extend.
A Democracy especially of the radical socialist style that BHO is wishing to establish would be the greater evil of the two IMO.
If you equate Dictator with an absolute Monarch I'll go with that over a Fabian Socialist or Marxist Peoples Republic.

Obviously a true Republic with a responsive Congress, Agenda free Supreme Court and an Executive that sticks to the Constitution and all uphold their collective Oath's of Office is still superior if  you have that choice.

  Unfortunately, a true republic with a responsive congress is a rare species these days..I sincerely hope the one we have gets put on the severely endangered list soon.

I concur with your assessment; I just disagree perhaps that a benevolent dictatorship would be preferable. To my thinking we have a dictatorship of a sort, and my kind of people fell out in the minority, so the benevolence does not extend to me. I can only pray the states reassert their sovereignty, dissolve the current fiasco, and reestablish a republic. A "coup d'état" or revoloution is a romantic notion; for those who've never seen one or it's aftermath, it's an inspiration. Had season tickets, box seats, to a couple, and I'd go a long way before I leapt at that. Owning guns and ammo, even hunting is one thing ...

I can understand your reluctance choosing a benevolent Ruler.

                                Points to Ponder.

1.Would he extend that policy towards whatever minority you belong to?

2. Could he/she be persuaded to let lower levels of Govt be chosen by elections?

3. Could he/she be persuaded to step aside for a true Republic at some time?

                                                 VS

A radical Fabian Socialist Govt that wouldn't consider the above three options at all.

In the liberals mind they do nothing wrong they just don't do what they want fast enough and set up things to fail so they can pass new laws.  Much like they do with the gun laws.
Heck the first Health care reform was Teddy Kenedy and his introduction of the HMO and PPO plans.  Now those plans are what they say has caused the health care problems we have today and yet all the idiots in the media look to the same baffoons to fix the problems they caused in the first place.  We have had over 70 years of liberals screwing things up  blaming capitalism and trying to fix what they screwed up and still making things worse while taxing you and taking away your freedoms.
As Einstien said Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
There is NOTHING the government can do better or cheaper than Private industry!!!
There are things that are better left to the government like the army or items that the private sector is not willing or able to provide.
The only down side is that liberals think that the common citizen can not think for them selves and that government needs to take care of them.  After meeting some of the people that voted for Obama, and some of the other Liberals I have met having moved to Northern California I can understand why the Liberals think the country is loaded with Morons.
