nope. two ways to do this though. either have a custom cylinder made or buy a blackhawk .45 colt with the .45 acp cylinder conversion.

As note by mjbgalt  ruger makes a blackhawk 45 convertible. It has cylinders in 45 colt and 45 acp. I have a 5.5 inch and like it a lot. You simply  remove one cyinder and put in the other. Takes about a minuate or less.  Also I understand if you have a blackhawk  in 45  colt ruger will sell you a cylinder in 45 acp to go with it if you contact them.

It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Just out of curiosity,  Why would you want to shoot .45ACP in a revolver?  What are the advantages of it over say say 45lc or 44 Mag.?  Seems to me dealing with moon clips and the like would be a pain.

Off hand I would suspect he has a lot of 45ACP ammunition available or can lay his hands on it at a reduced cost when compared to the 45 Colt, which is pretty pricey these days, assuming you can find it.

Ruger did make a "special edition" Vaquero with both cylinders, came in a black plastic box with gold writing, was in stainless, 5 1/2".
With the Ruger .45 acp cylinders moon clips aren't used.

Actually, the Ruger chambers work quite well with ACP's. The reason for moon clips is so that the double-action extractor has something to shove against. A SA has an ejector rod to push from the inside of the case. I read about a guy who shot action pistol with a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 ACP. He would eject empties while he moved and thumbed fresh cartridges from the top of a 1911 mag into the revolver chambers. Kinda like using a Pez dispenser. That is a great way to carry extra ammo. Wish it would work for the rimmed cartridges.
Check with Cimmaron. I think they make ACP cylinders, too.

What keeps the ACP rounds from dropping too far into the cylinder chambers without something to catch hold of the unexposed cartridge rim?

Rimless pistol cartridges headspace off the case mouth the same as it does in an auto pistol.

I have a Ruger Blackhawk convertible 5 ½” barrel in 45 Colt/45 ACP, so the 45 ACP cylinder is cut to headspace off the case mouth.

It shoots very accurate, I can load less powder with cheap bullets and save the better bullets and powder for my stoat 45 Colt loads.

45 auto rim won't work in a single action 45acp cylinder. The only thing that works is the 45acp which will headspace on the case mouth. Moon clips of any kind will also not work since there's no room for them.
It's a nice round in my Blackhawk convertible.

So, if a person took an easily obtainable Ruger 45 (long) Colt cylinder and machined off enough so the autorim would headspace properly, would that work, Broom?

Maybe not too good, looks like the autorim is about .007" smaller in diameter than the .45 Colt.  Probably work but not well.

Install the moon clip or similar devise prior to installing the cylinder in the gun?  ;D  Actually I was thinking DA revolver not SA for some reason.

Never shot ACP ammo in a revolver so I'm totally clueless in this regard, hence all the stupid questions.

Head spacing off of the case mouth makes sence, don't know why I didn't think of that.  :-[

I have heard people having there 45 ACP cylinder opened up for the 45 Auto Rim, and they can still shoot the ACP case as well.

Not to throw a wrench in the monkey works, but if a feller cold find a 45acp cylinder that somebody wanted to sell, would it fit and operate in the Vaquero? Would it you have to have it fitted? And finally aren't the cylinders different from the New and Old Vaqueros?

I have a .45 acp cylinder that will work in some .45C guns but in others the firing pin doesn't quite reach the primer.  Yes, the cylinders are different from the new and old Vaqueros.  The new one is slightly smaller and the chambers are closer together than in the old one.

I have a stainless 4 5/8 inch barrel ruger Vaquero convertable 45colt/45acp (the origninal Vaquero)and the accuracy is excellent . as far cylinder interchangable from frame to frame you need to check the timing when you swap them , often they are fine . Another option is to buy a cylinder chambered for a smaller cartridge and open it up ,cylmer has the correct reamers and I actually thought about doing this as a side business.

You guys answered my questions in regards to the 45acp and the Vaquero. I think I will do some looking and try to find one.
I have been loading the 45acp for several (over 3) decades, so that should answer anyone else's questions as to why I want one.

You can carry 45 Lc bullets in a moisan nagant stripper clip. It only holds 5 but they fit great in them.

I'm not really interested in moon clips, or stripper clips. I'm interested in a Vaquero that head spaces 45acp in the cylinder which apparently is available. I will do some checking and try and locate one worth the money. Apparently it is an accurate revolver, and that is what I am looking for in that platform.

It was my understanding the "Cowboy" brass was the same size as S&W Schofield. 8)
