I have a Night Court Judge Magnum (3" chamber) and took it to the range the other day.  Shot a number of 45LC's through it.  EVERY time it fired 4 times w/o issue, but on the 5th shot, the hammer wouldn't stay cocked if I pulled it back manually.  If I tried rapid firing, it would fire 4 in a row, then on the 5th one, seemed like there was a slight hesitation, then BANG....it went off.  Has anyone else had trouble with this?  Does anyone know what the problem might be?  The bullet was seated all the way in and it didnt matter which chamber of the cylinder I used, they all did the same thing on shot #5.

I would send it back to Taurus so that they can correct the problem.

Found out it was the ammo I was using!  Remington.....Tried Hornady and all sorts of .410 3" loads and it worked perfectly.
Remington ammo must be crap

No way the ammo wouldn't let the hammer stay cocked.  Something was wrong with the gun.  Could of been you had some fouling in the action that now is dislodged and why it is working.  I would go back to try some more remmy to see if you can replicate the problem, go back and forth between the two ammos.  Might could be something about the remmy brass and how it sits in the cylinder, but every time on the fifth shot no matter what cylinder just sounds a little wierd...  Only thing I can thing of is the lack of weight in the front of the cylinder after you shoot 4 bullets is making it off a little bit in the back because of a loose cylinder pin....

How many times did you have it not work on the fifth shot?  And was it the fifth every single time?

I've shot quite a bit of remmy handgun ammo, 45 included, and never had any such problem.

Thanks a lot for your response!  I appreciate it.  Very frustrated with buying a new gun and having problems of any kind.....
I went back to the range today.  On EVERY cylinder shot of the remington ammo, this happened 1-2 times, always on the last shot and a few times on other shots in the cylinder. 
I then shot a 50 round box of Hornady ammo WITHOUT INCIDENT.  Not a single hiccup.  Was talking to a guy at the range that suspected something was up with the Rem brass, that it was moving in the cylinders after being discharged and affecting the rotation of the cylinder for the subsequent shots.
I also shot a whole box (20 rounds) of .410 #4 shot without incident, and 10 rounds of 3" OOO Buck w/o incident.  I am contributing this problem to the Remington ammo.

Hmm, sure does sound strange.  Only thing I can think of then is the brass interfering with the little foot that turns the cylinder..., but it doesn't seem like that piece should come down or out far enough to touch the brass in the first place, thinner rim on the remmy letting that piece get too close to the cylinder?  Who knows, definitely a strange problem.  But if different ammo solves it, sounds like it's shootin time!

Kinda what I thought.....shootin time!  I emailed Rem about it just so they can check that ammo lot, etc....will post back if  they have anything interesting to say.  I'm chalking it up to ??????, cause like you said, it really makes no sense.   Thanks again for your help..
