rimefirecentral.com has a couple of self triggers you can do.  I did the trigger mod, but did not adjust my sear spring.  I have a 3.75lb trigger now.  look under the marlin section

No idea what the difference might be between the Rifle Basix MAR-1 and MAR-917 trigger upgrade kits other than fit for two different style triggers, but the MAR-1 I installed on my 17VS as soon as I bought it almost 7 years ago has never missed a beat, passes a drop test and has never failed despite being set for a light pull, and I have had zero problems with the safety.

I know some folks that did the cheap Pentel pencil spring mod on the Marlin 17's can't say that.    The price of the RB is cheap peace of mind IMO.

I was "in the loop" then - I'm not now, so FWIW...
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
