Help me identify this serial number please...

This is a new NEF shotgun just bought at Dick's Sporting Goods. I used to be able to interpret the serial numbers but for some reason this one is just not clicking. Serial number is CAC077_ _ _. Can someone tell me how to read the year of manufacture on the Ilion made guns?  Thanks

Y=2008 serial number prefixes changed in May 2008, CBA for SB2 and CAC for SB1
CB ? 2009

Thanks Cowboy. I can see that the one I just bought was born in 2008. Sort of surprises me that there's still 2008 stock left

I'm not positive, but I think they're still using CAC for SB1s made this year, I'll have to check on it, I need to know when and what the next prefix will be.

At this time, serial number prefixes aren't scheduled to change until 2010.

I sure hope that they don't try and use these letters for a series of yrs . Hopefully they are using this set for 2 yrs only as they probly didn't produce that many during the 2008-2009 transition. I like the way it has always been done!! Kurt
