Heavy weight cast 41 cal bullets

Does anyone cast or know were I can get some cast bullets in the 230g to 305g range , I want to try some in my 41GNR .

It does well with both cast and jacketed up to the 220g but I want to see what it will do with something bigger , I have data for up to the 305g but can't find any bullets so if anyone knows were to find some please let me know .

Cast Performace

All have heavy 41 mag. bullets   Have not seen 300 gr. bullets     Good Luck, I love my FA 41 mag.

I'm pretty sure someone makes bullets in the 240-250 range but not sure who as I don't really buy commercial cast bullets. I'd think anything in the 300 range would be intended for rifle use in some centerfire African type rifle of similar bore rather than primarily for handgun use in the .41 mag.

they used to sell some at Specialty ARms web sight-  I know an individual who cast 305 but that is about it-- I make 255 LWNGC  and my .41 GNR with a 5.5" bar ell  will do about 1400 with those-- the guy who sold me some 305 --I can get about 1360 out of them --he used a 7.5 and got 1420+?   a 250 Cast Performance will go( the short nose one) 1500 -- i have some 265 but never have used -- as the 255 I cast is more than enough-1"+ holes in deer -I have data for AA#9  as well as h100/296 and bullet weights from 170 to 305--if you want to try some 255 let me know and we'll work out something-- mine come from a brass mold from Mountain Mold

I have two molds and some cans of cast bullets from my Dad's stuff.  I'll look and see what they weigh..

Sorry, I have a can of 215 grn. SWC but nothing heavier.  Both molds are same.  I would have donated some.

Thanks for the thought , thats what counts .  ;D I just don't see a 305g bullet working but Gary Reeder says it can be done so I beleave him , Its His Round  :D

the 300's will work but to me and GNR if we ask him they are not needed-- my so likes to shoot them out of his .41 4.5/8 B hawk -seems to me the .41 GNR does its best with bullets up to my 255 -or so -- all I know about is deer and anything from the 170 up will work --btw I think it is Specialty Pistols-- what is you GNR chambered in??  I

Mine is in the Mod 657 S&W , done before he switched over to all Ruger platforms , the Smith has a shorter cylinder than the Ruger so thats what got me wondering if the heavy weights will even fit .

 --Mine IS A Redhawk--as I remember the S&W will take a .4 nose maybe more just measure and see-do not think that sites sells them --but if Gary can kill a buff with a 255 we ought do as well here in the USA with our game--If you want to try my 255 holler and I will send you some for the cause--

I just bought a 270 grain .411 LFN mold from LBT off their sale list....  Just arrived yesterday..  John Gallager is fitting a 357 maximum cylinder to my 41 Bisley with a full cylinder window...  He will rechamber the cylinder to a 1.4 inch 41.   Will be trimming 414 brass to 1.4 for it.

I think frank at mt baldy bullets still sells the lbt 250lfngc. It probably the best heavy 41 bullet ive ever used. He gave me his old mold when he replaced it and i casted with it for years till it was just flat wore out.

Made a pretty little bullet....  Weighs about 262 grains w/o the gas check with my alloy....   UPS should bring some gas checks tomorrow...

Stumbled upon a little more heavy 41 bullet info....  John Taffin writes that the FA 41 mag that shot heavy cast bullets so well for him has a 1-14 twist barrel...  The S&W 41 mag barrel John Gallagher is installing on my 1.4 inch 41 mag has a 1-18.5 twist...
