Cheese:  I have ammo boxes just like that, but in 7.65mm Luger, and some in 32 S&W.  Neat old stuff - that still works.......

Nice old gun and ammo.  I sold most of my safe queens in which 9 were walthers...I did keep one of the 1st PPK/s americans w a 4 digit serial #.

Here is one more. I got these from my father who got them from surrendering Nazi soldiers that were very happy to give them up. This took place somewhere in Germany in 1945. One captured German soldier wanted to show my father how to disassemble, clean and reasemble the pistol, so dad removed the magazine, checked the chamber and give him the gun. The soldier went into great detail in the hands on demonstration about every aspect of the PPK since he couild speak English.

Great guns Cheese. Big time family heirlooms there. Awesome story about your Dad. I've heard that the Nazis had no problem surrendering to the Americans; they sure as heck didn't want to face what would have happened to them by surrendering to the Russians.
