H&R service
« on: September 07, 2009, 03:23:46 AM »
I recently sent my brand new Sidekick in for repair,it had tight spots in the barrel that tore up my sabots and made it hard to load. The service from H&R was great! They called me at home and said they didnt have any more blued barrels and wanted to know if it would be OK to put a stainless barrel on. They did the work and had it on its way back to me in 2 days,no charge to me. Cant ask for better service than that!

That is just the opposite service I got. Set my receive in 5-30-09 to get a stainless 50 cal muzzleloader barrell installed. Two months later I was told they did not have any left. When I sent it in I was told buy two people in repair one was assigned to my receiver, what a bunch of lying people. I even got a cost on the repair $164.50, they also promised a triger job which I did't get.

I don't see how you can get a barrel assigned to your receiver by calling Madison, repair is in Ilion, something is fishy if that happened before they got the frame.

I sent my receiver in to h&r it was there a few days and i talked to a person in repair, the one person was named dan and the other person was named Ron. They both at two different phone conversations told me a barrel was assigned to my receiver, that was after it was signed in at the plant.I have a list of parts and labor charges which total $ 164.50. I was refunded my shipping and the receiver was sent back to me free of charge, I also have the first and last name of the person who sent me the refund. Before I sent the receiver in I was told there where 12 stainless barrels left, that is why I sent it in. That realy sucks when you wait 2 months for a barrel and they tell you there is none left and some guy gets a free one.The address i shipped to was Ilion NY. 14 hoefler av.

Sounds like they messed up and assigned you a barrel they didn't have, they've been out of muzzleloader barrels for quite a while, they had 10 SS barrels the first of June, so it doesn't surprise me that you missed out on them, they may have got several orders in before they got to your frame.

Tim

I got an email from a guy who said that they said they had 10 SS left on friday I told him to call monday and see if he got the same answer as friday. I'ts a shame when you can't get the same answer from CS on the same subject 2 times in a row or by 2 differant reps. Turn around times may be good for bbl that is truley in stock but the phone people need much help. Kurt

Like I said, they told you they had barrels they already gave to someone before you, that's not right, but it happened.  :-\ Gardner never promised barrels ahead of time, it got a barrel assigned to it when it was in the gunsmith's hands ready to be fitted, I wouldn't expect Ilion to be any different.

Kernbigo,

I feel your pain, I really do. I have several bad experiences with Big Green, over 20 years worth.

BUT, I think we are talking about two different barrels here. Timbolero has a Sidekick, you were looking for a Huntsman barrel? The barrel blanks are the same, however once they have the lugs welded on, they are not interchangable. Sorry to hear of your experience.

Timbolero,

Glad to hear they were able to take care of your rifle. I doubt that will be the case much longer. I am surprised to hear they had Sidekick barrels available, since they cannot be fitted to anything but another Sidekick that already had a muzzleloader barrel. Unless they were expecting to replace some of the barrels?

Kernbigo, Sorry I had to be the one to rub salt in that old wound! They didnt do right by you, thats for sure. My rifle had a defective barrel that I told the tech on the phone I thought was unsafe to fire,I also stated I had just bought it from a gunshop New In Box and I sent the warranty in online the day before I called repair services.Perhaps they do in fact have a small quantity of barrels set back just for warranty repair and not for general sale? If so somebody messed up by taking your order to begin with. Not making excuses for anyone, just lookin for a reason why they jerked your chain.Actually I was a little surprised, after reading this forum, that they had a barrel for my rifle at all! I did the shipping at a fair sized gunshop for a few years and I DO have stories about dealing with various gun companys,it would sometimes leave a person shaking their head,THEN you have to explain it to the guy who brought his gun in to have it sent to the factory,it was...enlightening.

I remember when you sent that in Oscar and I was very surprised when you had told me that they told you they had bbl's in for the Huntsmans as we had been told for about a month prior that they were gone not only the blued ones but also the SS ones which they had for a time when the blues were gone. That is exactly what they need to fix in this new outfit not the bbl's or actions or the blueing but getting the same answer from 2 reps for the same ?? That is what is so frustrating with them right now you don't know what your gettin til the deal is done.Kurt

i cannot see anything getting better at any cerberus controled company.they have money difficulties ie; to the tune of 5 billion $$$ with hedge fund investers wanting out. the 579 17hmr buyback is just another example. remember these are not gun people, just money(profit)driven people. lol
