leupold M8 7.5X scope

I was just given an older 7.5 X Leupold scope by my uncle.  It has fine cross hairs so my first inclination would be to get them replaced with heavier duplex.  Most of my centre fire rifles have either 4Xs or standard variable scopes on them.  I'm not sure what would be the best use for this scope.  Most of my hunting is done for moose or deer in the bush as opposed to wide open spaces although I guess I could put the scope on a rifle for more wide open areas.  I was also thinking of perhaps using it for silhouette (although I don't shoot that right now).  Any of you guys use 7.5s? and if so how do they work for  you.  Oh yeah, how old would this scope be?

Very old. I doubt Leupold still has parts to support it.

  Many years ago i bought one new, and over the years i've had it on many different rifles.  Several years ago i bought a new Rem. semi auto 22WMR, and my 7.5 Leupold fits that gun perfectly!

That means if it needed repair and was sent in it would be replaced

I called the Leupold repair center in Canada and they said to send it in.  I'm thinking of putting heavy duplex crosshairs in it, now I just have to pick up another rifle to put it on.

Yup if sent in you'll likely never see it back. They will almost certainly replace it with something from their current line. Sure they might be able to fix it and return but I think it doubtful.

Don't see many of these anymore. I have the Leupold 7.5x with a post. It came on my Rem 788 in 22-250 when I bought it used around 1969. Many a woodchuck, crow, fox & coyote have fallen with this combo over the years.
I agree with the others, they probably will replace the scope with a new one.
