FNP-45 Sights
« on: September 07, 2009, 05:02:56 PM »
I got a new FNP45 a while ago, and i'd like to upgrade the sights.  I know its a relatively new design, but i was wondering if anyone makes aftermarket sights for it yet.

What do you have for sights now?  Are they dovetailed to the slide??  You can contact FN as williamlayton suggested - taht would at least (hopefully) get you the base dimentions of the front and rear cuts if dovetailed.

Congratulations on owning one of the best handguns on Earth. I bought mine in March of this year. I live in Columbia,SC and have worked a litlle as an electrical contractor at the plant where these weapons are made. I know one fact concerning the weapons that FN makes...over 70% of the firearms our country's military troops use on the battlefield are made by FNH. I regret to inform you that there is not much out there yet for these handguns. I notice a bias toward Sigs, and Glock these days.I believe a lot of this is pure unadulterated HYPE. I recently saw a comparison of a S&W Sigma to a comparable Glock and the S&W blew it out of the water. I am not saying that the Sig and Glock are junk...just vastly overated. I remember an event in 1995 that Sig would rather forget. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was going to issue Sigs to all their agents. Within a few months they had loaded several 55 gallon drums of Sigs up and sent them back to the factory for cracked slides.
I think there is one company Trijicon that may have a night sight for the FNP .45 ACP by now. They offer a product for the 9 mm and 40 cal. models through a company called ToolTech that charges a hefty sum  to make an install. To be on the safe side I would contact the factory.BladeTech made a shooters pack for the FNP .45 ACP for a while. I have a decent holster and ammo pouch through them.
I have been through the ringer the last several months with smart alleck replies and small time holster makers complaining about the economy because I have written and asked if they make a product for the FNP .45 ACP. Judging from the remarks I have gotten from some supply houses makes me believe there may be some sort of payola scam involved in some of this.I don't know how else to explain the almost total lack of accessories for a firearm like the FNP .45 ACP. It has been out for a pretty good time in fairly large numbers. FN made many of them available to small town PDs at first with a discount as far as I have heard. There are a lot of these floating around for this to happen. I did find several factory magazines at my local gunshow for it...In 15 count too. I now have 3 x 15 shot mags and 2x14 shot mags for mine. I love the idea of packing a .45 ACP with 15 rounds in the mag and one in the pipe.
