Recoil reducing stock for Remington 700
« on: September 08, 2009, 03:34:35 AM »
Due to age and too many miles on the body, I am seeking a way to reduce the recoil on my 700 in 338 Winchester Magnum.  I have seen pictures of stocks that appear to accordion or collapse during recoil and spring back into position.

Does anyone know of a company that makes a stock that I could use to replace the plastic stock on my 700 that would help with the felt recoil?

Thanks in advance.

Caliboose,

I think the stock you are referring to is the Knoxx CompStock:

It is supposed to have a built in recoil reduction system that reduces felt recoil by as much as 75%:

Since these are modified Hogue Stocks, if you decide to try one, I'd suggest you get the version that has the Full Length Aluminum Bedding Block, rather than the version that has just the pillar bedding. The full length version reduces or eliminates any flex in the forearm. The forearm on the version with just the pillar bedding flexes like a wet noodle.
