Should you shoot match ammo only in this barrel? I just purchased a new one and need to know about shooting CCI mini mags will it do any damage? Tried to call T/C No luck talking to a person only a recording.

I have been told that any 22lr ammo is ok in a match chamber EXCEPT CCI Stingers.  The case used in Stingers is a hair longer than other lr ammo.

If anyones knows otherwise, let us know.

I normally shoot American Eagle long rifle's out of mine. I've never tried the stingers. I can't see how anything would get "damaged" by trying the mini mags. Give them a try. Any "normal" (non-match) long rifle ammo should be fine. It will normally shoot the "good" match quality stuff with better accuracy, but I can shoot bug-holes at 50 yards with the cheap red box "American Eagle" stuff, which is what I use to chase squirrels and rabbits with my daughter. I've also used the Aguila sub-sonic ammo to great success for closer range pest control, it's also been very accurate for me.

From what I have searched and found the match chamber is a little shorter than a non match chamber and when you insert non match ammo it actually forces the bullet into the rifling which could cause the bullet to pull out of the brass leaving it hung in the chamber if you didn't shoot it and unloaded the bullet. I have shot the mini mags and the velocitors made by CCI and haven't seen any problem. Which I have shot all of them and haven't tried to unload one. I haven't shot enough of them to really tell about accuracy. but what I have seems to be pretty accurate. I was hoping to get a answer from T/C, But all I got was a recording. I tried to call back and got through to a person and she informed me she couldn't transfer me to someone who could answer my question because of the number I had called and gave me a different number to call back, So I called that number and got what sounded like the same woman who listened to me state my question and then she hung up on me. I thought maybe we had got disconnected so I called the same number back and she answered again and then hung up again. I don't know what is going on with the woman answering the phone, But I called back the phone number that I have used before for T/C and left my name, phone number and my question today at around 1:00 oclock eastern time on the voicemail for gun service which was option 2. Wonder how long It will take for someone to call me back?

I don't think you must use match ammo, you just can't use stingers, and other hyper-velocity ammo that has a longer than normal case.  I think some Aquila loads are too long.

I have had 3 different T/C .22 LR Match Contender Barrels over the years (all were Super 14 Handgun Barrels). I have shot all manner of .22 LR Ammo in them EXCEPT for CCI Stingers without issue. I chambered lots of different types of .22 LR Ammo and removed it from the chamber without firing without issues. Yes you could clearly see where the bullets engaged the rifling, but there was no marks on the cartridge case itself (again I never did try CCI Stiners as they are said to use a longer cartridge case and that the cartridge case being longer could indeed come into contact with the rifling throat).

The 3 different T/C .22 LR Match Contender Barrels I had were some of the most accurate .22 LR's I have ever shot.

I read on CCI's website on the data for the stinger a warning not for use in match chambers. I will probably use whatever I find to be the most accurate, But it would be nice to be able to shoot the cheap ones with good results. I don't need super fast anyway.
