.22 Buffalo Classic Carbine

I turned a .22/20 Versa Pack into a .22 Buffalo Classic Carbine.

Got a few questions:

1st Picture:  The lockup is VERY tight.  It elongated the forend hole for the screw mount on the end towards the stock.  I think I need to sand the wood on the forend closest to the stock.  Is this correct?

2nd Picture:  There is a gap between the barrel and forend.  Do I need to put something between them?

3rd Picture:  I know I don't have the sight adjusted correctly, I just moved the sights at the back, and not at the front dovetail.  (I didn't realize this when I sighted it in).  Still, it seems like it's way left.  Is this normal.  I'd like to take of the "hunk of plastic" and put a Williams WGRS, but I think it would look stupid the way the barrel is.  Any thoughts?

Here's what I've done with my VersaPack - straight lam stocks.

       

I love it, but now I wish I hadn't sold my BC stocks!

wow i likey looks really cool and affordable to shoot compared to a 45colt or 45/70  haahahah have fun  ;D

On my daughter's Versa Pack I ended up taking the factory sight off and leaving the plastic piece on but used a 3/8" dovetail plug that I got from Midway to fill the dovetail. I have a Williams FP peep sight on it now. The pictures didn't come out great but you'll get the idea.

Thanks for all the comments!

I sanded on the plastic piece on the forend and it loosened it right up.  Didn't take much...it's still a hair on the tight side, but I figured I'd shoot it a little more first to see if it would loosen up some on it's own.

Still gotta figure out what I'm doing with the factory sights.  I pushed on the dovetail with my thumb and it moved a little bit.

Thanks, I ordered that dovetail plug from Midway.

However, since then I determined that the rear sight shouldn't be hanging over the edge to sight in at 25 yards.  I brought the gun back where I bought it, they shot it, and they agreed.  They swapped it out for a whole new Versa Pack. 

If anyone is looking, Larry's Pistol and Pawn in Huntsville, AL has several (youth and adult stocks).  They are $179.99.

I think I may just keep this one stock as good as it shoots.  I'll put the Williams WGRS and BC stock set on the 357 I got today!
