Pardner Pump Protector
« on: September 10, 2009, 11:57:08 AM »
Do any of ya'll have the Pardner Protector with the 18 1/2'' barrel? If so how do you like it? I am thinking about buying one and using it to deer hunt with using foster type slugs. Does this sound like an all right idea? Seems to me like it would make a good choice for stalking in the woods. Thanks

I'm suprised no one has answered your post.I have one, bought it a year ago. It has proven to be a well made ,tough, and versitile shotgun.I have fired many rounds of slug and buckshot loads thru it and it functions flawlessly. With just the front bead it has acceptable accuracy out to 50 yds.If you were to mount a scope on it you could stretch that out considerably.

I have one also. I am completely satisfied with it except for one thing, the buttstock. That is just a personal preference, I don't much care for plastic stocks so I bought a walnut 870 police buttstock on Ebay and fitted it up.

There is NOTHING wrong with the plastic stock mind you.

Overall I am very impressed. It is well built, well finished, and has become my go-to shotgun for HD. I can't see any reason whatsoever why it wouldn't serve you well as a slug gun.

All I changed was the buttstock, not the forend. For some reason the plastic forend doesn't offend me like the plastic buttstock does. go figure?  ???

I have a second 870 police buttstock (only) laying around if you want it. PM me your address and I will send it out.

I love mine. I used it for shotgun instructor recert, (functions much better than the Dept. issue 870 Police magnums!) I can't say enough about this shotgun. I live in a shotgun only zone and was thinking of ordering a scope mount and putting my Bushnell shotgun scope on it, (I wish the NEF accessories were available in stores, sucks to order them.) I paid about $170.00 for my pardner protector. The 870s we have at the PD cost over $400.00 w/o tax.
