9/11 memories?
« on: September 11, 2009, 06:25:00 AM »
On the morning of 9/11 I was working on deadline when somebody told me about what happened. I went with him to watch the converage for a few minutes on TV. Just as I walked in there was footage of a plane hitting a building. My impression was that it was deliberate, not accidental. That turned out to be the second plane, which confirmed that it was deliberate. I had to go back to work and put it out of my mind until I got off. Then I went home and watched TV until there was no more information to get that day.

The day before I had checked out a copy of Eerdman's World Religions from the library and jumped ahead to the chapter on Islam. The first paragraph said that the Islam is in a tragic state today because it is defined by the extremist factions. How true and appropriate to the moment this paragraph was.

A few weeks later I was in Manhattan, in a tall building at Penn Station, working with people who all knew someone who had died that day. Manhattan has been a friendlier place ever since. It really seems to have changed the people who live there.

I used to walk right into the Library of Congress and request books. Now I have to go through a metal detector and past a guard. I can't get into the library proper without a picture ID issued by the library. That was an effective attack because it changed the amount of security we have in a lot of public buildings.

I was on my way to work and heard it on the radio, thought man what

Went in to work and everyone is talking about it, i said i heard about it on the radio
and then they told me about the second plane.

Similar story.  I was driving into work when the first airplane hit.  Once I got to the office I went to the break room where we had a TV.  Found half the company there watching in disbelief.  That day changed our world forever, it completely changed to focus of the Bush administration, and is still affecting our younger generations 8 years later as they join our armed forces.

I heard a news program talking about what was 'news' on September 10th.  One of the main stories at that time was whether Micheal Jordan was going to come out of retirement.  No wonder we were caught flat-footed.

I remember leaving the office to go to Hayward, my first stop of the day. I stopped half way at a cafe and was told a plane had hit a NYC building and was not sure what it meant at the time. Went on to Hayward and parked in front of a residence and the owner came out and told me that World War 3 had just started. I was getting more info on the radio by then knew we were under attack. I expected more and more attacks followed by instant and massive retaliation on a scale I was completly unsure of.. Scary times.

Today as I drove through town today I seen one young man with a huge American flag on a large pole flying from the bed of his truck as he drove down Main street. There should be more flags on this day. I see fewer every year. My flag is out today.

I was driving on Madison avenue in Mankato when Tom Bernard aof the KQRS 92.5 morning show said that a plane had hit the world trade cent, and he said that from the looks of the way it hit it was no accident. He was right.

Was talking with my brother when we heard the news , his son was only a few (3) blocks away and saw the second plane hit the building . It was almost 7 hours before we could get intouch with him . There are several things worst than not knowing but it ranks high on the nerves scale .

I was at work when one of my co-workers heard it on the radio. We went down to the cafeteria and watched the news and we saw it live as the second aircraft slammed into the towers. At that point I said to him " the world just changed forever".

This is how I remember it. I live in sw Pa and it was a warm sunny morning. We just started framing a house here in Scottdale. I did not live here then but I do now. When this took place I lived in Acme Pa. Where some of the 911 calls came in from flight 93. That plane crashed about 35 miles from the trailer we were living in then. Well I needed to use the bathroom real bad that morning and told my boss I needed to run down to McDonalds and use theirs. On this job there was no electric so we had to use a generator. It was so loud you could forget about having a radio to listen to during the day. Well I get in the car and head down to McDonalds and I hear on the radio that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade center towers. I am thinking a small plane and it was probably pilot error. When I came back out of McDonalds after doing what I had to do. I get in the car and am heading back to the job site. That is when I hear a second plane has crashed into the other tower. I knew at this point the first plane was no accident. I stepped on the gas to get back to the job. The first thing I do is bring a crew of 7 men to a stop by shutting down the generator. I said guys you got to hear this. I turned on my car radio for everyone to hear what has happened. We lisened for a few minutes and called it a day. We only loaded power tools. Everything else on the job layed where it was. We all headed over to the bosses house because he only lived a few miles away. We all stood there in dis-belife as things unfolded that day. We did hang out there for a couple hours before we home to our famlies. I will never forget that day. >:( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Dale

I was at Intermatic Corporation in Spring Grome IL, pumping out a tank of oily waste water when my Nextel crackled to life.  My coworker Kevin told me about the first one and while we were speculating on whether or not it was an accident the second one hit.  At that point I said, "I guess we're going to war."

Was watching a documentary of the event on the History channel last night (9/11). It showed film footage of the event that was taken by regular citizens and which was not shown on the major news networks back in 2001. It was horrific to watch it all over again. I think I felt worse about all the tragedy watching it again last night than I did when it first happened.

I remember the look on my wife's face when the second tower collapsed.  It is etched into my mind, and something I hope to never see again.

I was living in New Jersey at the time, the attack on 9/11 was one of the catalyst which prompted us to move south.   It was a nice sunny warm day and I was working in new construction.  Someone on the job site had the radio on for music when they broke in with the news report of the first plane, and then a little later the second plane.  It just seems so surreal.  I imagined it must have been similar to what my Mom and Dad felt and experienced when Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese.  None of us got much work done that day, we all stayed pretty close to the radio listening to updates, wondering who, and why we were being attacked, and if there would be an all out war.  We lived close enough to NYC that we could see the smoke from the WTC from our house when we got home that afternoon.

One impression or memory which sticks out clearly in my mind was that fact that all air traffic, with the notable exception of a few military fighter jets now and then, had come to a stop.   Anyone who lives in that area of the country knows that there is normally always air traffic overhead.

Say a prayers for those who lost family and friends that day.  I am fortunate that I did not personally   know anyone lost in the attach but did know several people who did.

I remember it well. Watching that 2nd plane hit there was no doubt in my mind that it was deliberate murder by a Godless group, I was right. I can almost hear the screams of the passengers as the Godless ones murdered all those people and sent themselves to hell. I can imagine the screams of those innocents inside the buildings as they were burned alive. I can still see the people jumping to their deaths to avoid being burned alive. I can still see the rescuers carrying buckets picking up body parts. I can almost smell the burning rotting flesh of the 3,000 innocent victims. REMEMBER??? Darned right I do. A big thing with me was I always wondered how many of those innocents were saved??? How many never got that last chance to repent and accept Christ??? Sound silly??? It's not. Just because they were cruelly murdered doesn't mean they all went to Heaven, that has always bothered me. The Godless ones may have taken many to hell with them. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I remember the morning, I was going to the service station to get an oil change and tires rotated.

The guy that owns and operates the station said "Man some wacko crashed a plane into the world trade center, I'm thinking a "big" mistake and a tragedy! He says look a this and turns on the tv just then a clip showing the second plane crashing and I say that was no accident and he says and that aint the first crash!

Our world changed that day and i thought that this country was gonna get its head outa its ass for sure. but i was wrong and we have merely stuck it farther in and culminated in electing this fool and are sure to destroy  the rich country "our fathers" died to save. What fools we have become and deserve what grows from the seeds we sow!

OS. All true. For at least a few days the dumcraps actually acted like Americans instead of the liberal trash they are. Folks were openly praying to God in public, our president, congress, govornors, mayors, all praying in public. The aclu crawled under it's rock for a short time, all that praying and invoking Gods name tore them up, couldn't stand it. If the Godless had hit lower, the death toll would have been much higher, never did figure out why they hit so high up. The sight of the Godless ones dancing in the streets is still fresh in my mind, like I've  said before, no such thing as an American muslim. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Other than military aircraft everything else was grounded. I remember president Bush was asked if he had known the plan of the Godless ones whether he would have ordered the hijacked planes shot down, he said, yes, without hesitation. Had that happened the dumcraps, libbies, and other panty wetters would have screamed bloody murder, never acknowledging that the Godless ones were going to kill them anyway. Yes, I still remember.
