Here I was minding my own business...
« on: September 12, 2009, 04:40:12 PM »
today at a local auction when I spied a Model 97 in .45 Colt.  Express sights.  3.5" barrel.  Round butt.  Factory trigger job.  Jeweled hammer (not too keen on that).  With box and papers.

I was one of two guys in the whole auction who knew what it was.  Bidding started at $850 and I was happy.  It held at $900, then a Proxibid bidder made me work for it.

I still got a heckuva deal, but I was disappointed when it became obvious I wasn't going to steal it it for less than a grand.

The ONLY things that could make this gun better would be micarta stocks and a .45 ACP auxilliary cylinder - and I'm thinking of sending it back for those.

However, the express sights gotta go.  Anyone wanna trade standard sights for express?   ;D

Pics to come....

Nice looking shooter.  How much did you end up having to pay

That there is a purty pistol.
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.

$1200, which I felt ain't bad at all.  $980 would have been better, which is what my initial bid that almost won it would have been after the premium, etc.  Someone on the internet started bidding right as the gavel was about to come down on $900 for me.
