double set trigger renegade
« on: September 12, 2009, 08:27:48 PM »
just bought a renagade the double set trigger works fine, the regular trigger doesnt release the sear, the plunger bar that the lever is supose to lift, is a little different than the one on my hawken, makes me wonder if it was even made to function with the regular trigger.

The T/C Renegade and Hawkin double triggers are the same. ie: the two trigger set's should look the same and are in fact interchangable. ;)

If your new purchase dosen't work, I'm guessing someone "customized" it. I really don't know what you mean by "plunger lever".
For clarification the trigger has two trigger levers; the part that raises, front and rear.

They (one or the other) engage the part of the lock called the trigger sear.

I'm not trying to be a smarty pants here, I'm just trying to figger out what part you mean??

what im calling the plunge lever is the bar that sticks out that releases the hammer sear, the to levers on the actual trigger push this up to release, the sear. no mods have been made but the lever for normal trigger operation wont reach the sear release took the locks off the renegade and hawkins last night the one on the renegade is angled back, so the normal trigger lever wont reach but the set trigger lever will still hit the bar and trip the sear.

I've owned a couple of Renegades with the double set triggers and can say for sure they are designed to fire both set and unset. It's been a long while and I might be remembering wrong but I think one of the two is the real trigger and the other the set. In other words what I "think" I remember is you fire with the same trigger all the time but use the other only to set the firing trigger. I do have CRS so maybe remembering it wrong.

I hate set triggers so long ago traded mine off and got a single trigger Renegade.

You're correct GB.
The rear trigger is the set and the front fires the rifle. If you set the rear the front will fire with somewhere between 8-16 oz. If you only pull on the front trigger without setting the rear it will require much more pressure.

Well, there it is. someone buggered the renegade lock//trigger sear. You can try to bend it back straight so it's like the Hawkin lock, or send it in and have T/C repair it under their "Lifetime warrenty" you don't have to be the original owner, or have a purchase receipt. Your cost is just mailing it to Fox Ridge Outfitters, turn over time is 4-6 weeks.

I'll find ya the link and post it for ya.

I found it,,give'm a call or email,,
