t/c forearm adapter?
« on: September 15, 2009, 01:54:12 AM »
I've bought a 16" 45-70 barrel for my contender pistol. I'm going to put a carbine stock on it, which I have. I need the forearm and the adapter. I've found the forearm at Midway, but the adapter I found there said 14". So I need some help, which adapter do I need and where to buy? This isn't a G2 frame.
Thanks.

Please clarify what forearm you are looking at and by adapter do you mean a hanger bar.

I've got a black composite stock, so I'm looking at thompson center composite forearm at midway the product #232815. What I'm calling the adapter is the part that bolts to the barrel and the forearm screws into. I think the one that will work on a 14" pistol will work. I've only got 10" barrel but my father-in-law has 14" barrel, so I could test before I order. I'm just trying to only order once.

I would think a call to T/C would get you what you need. T/C is usually very helpful.

Item # 232815 is a composite forearm that bolts directly to a rifle barrel and does not require a hanger bar. This forearm will only fit rifle barrels. Pistol barrels are on a different spacing and require a different forearm.

If I read your first post correct this forearm should fit the 16" without the adapter (hanger-bar)

Thanks all. I believe Dave got me straight. I bought a used contender years ago that has a 10" barrel with Pachmayer grips and they need a hanger. I just thought that all forearms need a hanger too.
