1-9 Twist in a 223?
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:49:06 AM »
Hey guys, someone refresh my memory.  I have a Remington sps tactical 223 with a 1-9 twist.  What would be my best bet grain wise in a 223 bullet form best accuracy? Thanks in advance.

Only your rifle can answer that question for you. It should shoot from 40 grains to at least 60/65 based on twist rate alone but what will work in it is like any and all other guns you have to try them and see what yours likes.

Thanks Bill.  I can never keep that twist rate information straight for some reason.  I am gonna try to run some different types through it this weekend.  Have a nice day. :)

Me too...from 50 to 80 grn Nos Custom Comp. The 55 grn Nos, and Hornady shoot exceptionaly well in my Savage.

This is what I've got out of my 700 SPS Tactical:

69gr SMK with 25.5gr Reloader 15 in LC '08 brass and a CCI SR primer at 2.280 C.O.L. has given me an average of .543 MOA at 100yds for 4 groups of 5 shots each.

68gr Hornadys with the same as above but 25.5gr Varget average .658 MOA

I can't get the 75gr A-Max to stabilize for crap out of my barrel, others have had good luck.
