Go to Boyd's site, click on factory seconds, click on goto e-bay store.
They had about 15 left earlier.

You didn't look too awful hard... ;D
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Boyds-Gunstock-Store Here you go. I guess you would need to buy the forends separately?
I am looking at one of these for my Marlin 17HMR, it looks like they just need some finish work with a piece of sandpaper & a couple of layers of finish. Is that about right?

Seems to me the prices on their "factory seconds" stocks have more than doubled from last year's price.

I've bought 5 Boyd's t-hole second stocks in the last 3yrs, I've paid anywhere from $22 to over $80, so I don't consider the $44 to be double what they've sold for in the past, only one was $22, the rest were ~$40 or more. When you consider H&R sells them for $90 plus shipping, and all the seconds that I've received had very minor imperfections and all had Pachmyr pads, $44 is still a bargain unless they're charging way too much for shipping.  ;)

Last year they were selling them for $22.00. Now they are selling for $44.00. I was just stating "facts". I don't know why the price has doubled since last year, maybe it's inflation?

Only one of mine came off ebay about 3yrs ago, there were some horror stories on those sold by Boyd's dealer, BV Pawn, all the rest of mine came direct from Boyd's, I even got a pepper laminate last year that was unfinished, it was $75 shipped, so just be glad you can get them for $44.  ;)

I bought 3 of the stocks last week. All 3 were double laminate blems. One of the stocks has finish and the other 2 do not, all have the Pachmyr pad and came with the stock bolt.To me I don't think the blemish is bad.Boyds must have a very high quality standards.Just ordered a camo laminate  forend from H&R to go with the one finished stock(part number fs02588 $41.30 if anyone else wants one)I think I will paint the other ones to match the composite for ends on my other guns.

Uh oh, S02588 is the 12ga USHD forend, it's longer than a rifle forend and has a bigger channel for the 12ga USH barrel.  :'(

Got 5 which reduces shipping a lot. So how often do factory 2nd forends go on sale?

The only source is H&R's 20ga USHD forend and it's checkered........ when they have them in stock. GSI offers unfinished laminated forends.

Glad ya got that straightened out, someone else got one of those forends from them too.  :-\

The other forend that might be the one you want is S02587 which is listed on the parts price list as 20ga leafy camo waterfowl for the 20ga USHD, dunno if the description is in error because they do offer the 20ga USHD which has a camo lam stock and the forend is the same as the rifle forend, both the t-hole model SB1-T92 and the  SB1-928 have camo lam stocks, the SB1-T92 forend should be smooth.

I think I've got 1/2 dozen of these, finished. Picked one at random and put it on a Handi, couldn't figure out what they meant by "proud metal", it just didn't have as much proud wood as a factory stock.

Where is a good place to get a forend for these things? Could I get it from H&R?

Thomas, look up a few posts in this thread. Tim/Quickdtoo gave the details on factory (H&R) green laminate forends.

I saw that. But to be honest ,it was a little confusing. No fault of Tim's, I'm just not too bright sometime.  I guess what I'm asking, is can I call H&r and ask for a fore end from a particular rifle?

If I was gonna order one from H&R, I'd just play dumb and ask for a forend for the SB1-T92 if you want a smooth forend, or one for an SB1-928 if you want a checkered forend, those two shotguns take the same forend as a rifle.  ;)

Thanks a bunch! That is what I figured, but didn't know if they would need an actual part number. I will give that a shot. Again thanks.

I called H&R and ordered the SB1-928 checkered forend.I will have to wait until they get my 500 s&w repaired and a new 357 mag barrel fitted to see if they send me the right one.My 500 was popping open at every shot so I called customer service and they sent me a label.I decided to have them fit a new barrel and ship it back to me on their dollar. It was logged in on the 17th and then on the 24th that a repair man is working on it.I will let everyone know when I get some updates.

I ordered the same. just opened it. It's about six inches longer than the other fore ends I have. And the barrel channel is WAY to big. Part number fs02588. Wich now I see is what they told Wayne 24 he needed...........AUGH!

Well, I talked to someone that appears to have his head on straight. He's sending the correct one out this afternoon. Time will tell. I love my handis, but good grief.

Looking at the old retail parts price list in the FAQs, looks like the correct smooth camo lam forend is R01182, dunno if it's still available, but if I was gonna order by part number, that would be it.  ;)
