 i would disagree ... a good prosecutor would say the thief got what he had coming...
 it was bound to happen sooner or later to a man with his record...
 the young fella was the victim even though the thief got killed...
 its my bet they do prosecute this young man though...probably ruin his life because he stopped a thief...
 thats where this country is these days.. slim

To be prosecuted or not depends largely on where it took place.  Her in Texas he would most likely walk.  Just last week a collage student killed two and injured another when four individuals broke into his apartment, the fourth was caught when he came back to check on his friends after the police arrived.

To all those bleeding hearts who in the past said they would not shoot a teenager, you may wish to tune out at this point.  All of the perps in this case were teenagers, two were armed with real guns, one had a toy look-a-like that would pass for a real gun, anyway, when they pointed the guns at the collage student, he pulled his .40 and lit the area up, when the smoke cleared two dead, one on his way to the hospital and the other headed to jail………….a happy ending. ;D ;D ;D

Sounds good to me. Humans 1, punks 0. I have no tolerance for punks. The one Rockbilly told of had a good ending too. That proves that if you carry you must not only be ready to use deadly force, you also need to know how to. Once again, a story with a happy ending. A teen will kill you just as dead as a 40 year old, do it quicker, and without any conscience. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

We had a sword self defence story here in MN a few years ago. The perp was easy to match up with the fingers left at the scene. I'm sure the defence did not try to show that thier client was not at the scene of the break in. I thought this story was hilarious when it was reported on the radio.

Is there a group of people, like concealed carry people, who study swordsmanship? I guess I wouldn't have thought to keep a samurai sword handy in case I needed it.

A Samurai sword( real & historic) is my home defense item. I'm a peaceful person, but break in my place and act agressive and there will be some squeeling and screaming going on. ;)

If I'm a bad guy with any gun at all and you come after me with a sword you're going to end up in a pool of your own blood.  In this situation I believe the bad guy was unarmed but I sure wouldn't count on that.

That's the way I see it too. I realize that a skilled person with an edged weapon within arm's reach is a very dangerous opponent, but I'm an advocate of the "equalizer" concept inherent in firearms.

We had a young girl runaway from home last week.  She knew she had to be able to protect herself so she carried two Broadswords.  After being out in the woods a couple of days she went back home.  but just think about the young punk that tried to mess with her.

I bought the sword in Japan many years ago, my skill level is jab, chop and swing :D
In this country setting where I live, someone coming into my place with a firearm isn't all that likely to happen. If it does, I am counting on the dog to cause enough ruckus for me to get at least one chop at the intruder.

In all fairness to those of you that live in places where it isn't all that peaceful as here, a firearm loaded and handy isn't a bad idea at all IMO.

Should my neighborhood ever get that way I got a Side By Side 12 gauge coachgun and the rules of storing a gun be dam**d.

Well, I'd certainly rather be armed with a Samurai Sword than nothing at all, but I'd feel much better with that 12 gauge double barrel. ;)

If push comes to shove, yep, although I shudder when I contemplate the outcome* with the laws being what they are on self defense up here.

*They will remove every single firearm that you own and I doubt you would ever see them again. :(

Not exactly a sword but my uncle said he killed as many north koreans/chinese in the Korean war withboyonet and but stroke as with bullets.

We were trained in the army that cold steel was very intimidating.
