Traditions Pursuit LT ?

 ??? Anyone have any good or bad first hand experience? I do not need a new inline, just kind of want one and was looking at it. Thanks

I had an early Pursuit LT and the accuracy was fair but the trigger was terrible. I would not take a Pursuit LT unless I could verify that the trigger was acceptable. It is not an easy one to make corrections to a bad trigger. This is just a personal opinion (which most of the stuff on here is) but I would try to find a CVA rifle that has the Bergara barrel which is a high quality barrel compared with the run of the mill Spanish barrels on some of the CVAs and all the Traditions. The Kodiak after 2009 now has the Bergara barrel. In break actions the only ones with Bergara barrels are the Optima Elite (expensive switch barrel to centerfire rifle) and the Accura as far as I have been able to determine. I have the Optima Elite but with a .270 barrel and a 12ga turkey barrel as well as the .50 muzzleloading barrel.

I just got a new Traditions Pursuit LT , shoots 1/2" groups with 2 White Hot pellets and 250 grain Shockwaves, mine has the thumb hole stock....................very pleased with  it so far...

Bought one last spring, need to find something it shoots well, tried 110 grns 777 and 300 grn shockwave, going to back down on powder and go to 250 grn shockwave. Trigger on mine is very good for the price point, not much creep, handles nice, loads easy.

I got one this past spring. I really like it. Right out of the box it was shooting nice groups about 2 inches out of the bullseye at 60 yards with iron sights. I shoot 100 grains of pyrodex pellets and a 300 grain TC XTP. I picked this bullet because reviews on Cabelas.com said it had devastating performance on game. It also has an excellent trigger. Very smooth!

I just purchased the Pursuit XLT and find it very nice to shoot. Until now, I have never shot an in-line only traditional style blackpowder rifles and pistols. Found it on sale for 99.99 and couldn't pass it up. At 50 yards with the stock sights and right out of the box it was shooting dead nuts. With a 3-9x40 at 150 yards it's holding 1.5" groups using 150gr. Hodgen pellets  and Hornady 250gr.SST-ML bullets. I plan to hunt with it this year and for an inexpensive rifle it's very easy to handle and a breeze to take apart and clean. I have shot it 45 times since I purchased it without a problem.

From the posts it appears that Traditions finally stepped up to fixing the terrible trigger that came with the early attempts. Glad to hear that for those that have the new ones now. I traded mine with the bad trigger for a NEF Huntsman even up and have not been disappointed with that. I guess I will have to stop warning about the trigger since it appears to not be a problem now. It is unfortunate that many of the first attempt rifles have problems that sour the public. I know I probably will not buy a Traditions just because the first one I had was so bad. I have bought a CVA however even though they got some bad press early on and it is a great rifle.

I had an early one too, traded it off, new was has a very good trigger and I love the quick release breech plug........

I was told there is a lot of trigger creep in the Pursuit model so I dry fired the floor model and found that wasn't true. I have been fighting the urge to buy a Thompson or a Night ML for 600.00 to 800.00.  Heck for that price I could buy a new Sako.

For less than the $600 price tag you can buy a CVA Optima Elite with both a Muzzleloading barrel and a centerfire barrel in stainless with the new Bergara barrels that are every bit as good an anything T/C puts out. In my opinion my CVA Optima Elite barrel is way better than  the one on my T/C Omega.

600.00 isn't bad for 2 barrels but I look at it like you still end up with a single shot rifle. I would rather buy an H&R Handi-Rifle for 240.00 in a variety of calibers. I'm not saying a single shot isn't good but it's all in what you want. And your correct about the CVA vs the TC, they are way over priced and CVA makes one heck of a good firearm.

The combo CVA with a muzzleloading barrel and a centerfire barrel I have seen for just over $400 on R&R Arms. I found one on a used gun shelf with .270 barrel and the .50ML and paid quite a bit less than that. The one I found was stainless with camo stock (not sure what the deal was but the owner had three identical rifles all practically new with used tags on them).

That's not a bad price for a ML and .270.The CVA is a nice rifle. The only reason I bought the Traditions in-line was I got if for a 100.00 bucks. Any more than that and I probably wouldn't have bought it. I use a Hawkins during ML season or my PA BP rifle but I am really impressed the accuracy of this gun. Friday I'm going to try it at 200 yards but I will need to go to the club for that. I only can shoot to 100 yards on my range behind my house. Hopefully it will nice tight groups at that yardage.

can the traditions LT be dry fired?  I have not dry fired mine because my HR is not supposed to be and this one looks similar in design.

you can dry fire them like anything else but dont do  it 1,000 times each day as it can cause something to break.

I bought the Pursuit XLT with the thumb hole stock and factory scope used a few years ago and tried all the standard loads and even the load the owner said he had been shooting.
Shot like a dog.
I thought I was shooting my TC ENCORE barrel.
Three shot groups ran around 3" to 4" at 100 with all bullets tried from 250gr up to 385gr.
Charge weights ranged from 100gr to 150gr, both loose and pellets.
Started to give up on it when I noticed that I had a box of the Shockwave 200gr bullets with the yellow tip.
Useing the old CLEAR SHOT loose, (which is now PIONEER POWDER CO) 100gr load it really came into it's own.
Just dropping the bullet weight from 250gr to 200 made all the difference in the world.
It now will stay inside of 1.25" at 100 pretty much all day with a dry wipe after each shot.
Have taken a total of 9 deer with it so far.
Ranges run from 35 yds to just over 125 yds.

I love mine.
