I'll concede that Hardees is probably the best burger to be had by the fast food joints (Jack in the Box ain't too terrible either, and McDonalds is the absolute worst), but truthfully I don't really like any of the fast-food burger places. Cooking a burger fast (or alternatively, pre-cooking it) just has a bad effect on the taste. They necessarily have to keep their patties really thin so they'll cook faster - which is why so many places offer "double" or "triple" burgers that barely add up to what a single patty would amount to if you cooked it at home on the grill. For those times when I want a burger, a decent bar'n'grill or steakhouse will win every time, and usually is only a few dollars more, particularly with the way most fast food places are raising prices these days. In general though I just don't like much fast food. Taco Bell compared to a real Mexican place is just disgusting, though fast food pizza is *alright*, and I've found that most fried chicken places are pretty decent too. Still though, if I can I try to avoid chain restaurants (or at least large chains - local places with only 2 or 3 locations are ok) altogether. Regional cuisine is an amazing thing. Going places and sampling the food there is a wonderful thing, and having the same restaurants everywhere (particularly ones built around cooking food as fast and quickly as possible, rather than having it taste good) is just boring IMHO.
