Finish on Taurus PT1911
« on: September 18, 2009, 05:50:57 PM »
I am going to get a PT1911 and looking at the stainless model but was wondering how the blued finish is on the other models, or on the duo-tone. Any idea how it holds up after some aging/use?
Anyone able to help me out?
Thanks for the assist.

I've owned a blued model since the pistol first came on the market. I don't carry it, just used it a few times for IDPA, so it's not worn a lot. The finish appears to be pretty thin, and does show some wear in the muzzle area from a few hundred draws from kydex. What bothers me more is the billboard size lettering on the slide flats. Good pistol tho, well worth more than the $480 OTD I paid for it.

I'm with Savage, also have an early one.  Great 45, very accurate, no functioning problems handles anything I run through it.  But the finish is thin and don't like the billboard on the side of the upper.  All I did was change grips.
