Drunken motorcyclist
« on: September 19, 2009, 02:06:45 AM »
Last night as I was coming home from fishing I saw a guy on a motorcycle leave the parking lot of a roadhouse bar. He rode in the wrong lane for a while, and by the time I caught up to him I could see he was clearly weaving and struggling to keep the bike up. He was going about 30mph. I figured the guy was going to crash right in front of me, so I stayed back. He eventually pulled over to the side to let me pass. Maybe I should have stopped and taken the fool back to the bar, but it didn't occur to me.  I've seen people do this in cars too.

By the way, here's some Minnesota trivia: I'll be riding my bicycle near home and see the occasional beer can as roadside litter. I go farther north in the state and I see those big plastic 1.5 or 2 quart plastic bottles that cheap liquor comes in as litter. Man, those iron rangers like their liquor.

I usually hit 911 on those deals and call it in.

I used to travel the IR 8-10 times a year, looking at some of those communities, I would probably drink a lot too.

I believe just like guns and alcohol don't mix neither do bikes and alcohol. If you want to drink, plan for a designated driver to get you home. Put the guns and bikes up before the first drink.

It's the only responsable thing to do.

It's funny, where I live, the only litter I see on the road or in the woods are beer cans too, I guess some things are universal.

Several years ago we had a biker drive past a roadblock and road closed signs and die when he hit a large excavator that was on the road blocking the river where the bridge had been removed.
Did I mention he drove into a LARGE EXCAVATOR?... simply amazing

 ???

If by "iron ranger" you mean bikers, I'd submit that most of those beer/liquor containers come from cars...  :-\  The same cars driven by drunks who kill bikers daily.    :(  They be darn near as dangerous a driver as a woman with a cell phone!   :D

I won't even get into the question of are there more drunken cage drivers or bikers on the road at any given time.

And I KNOW you ain't talking about me since I am only a social drinker...  ... 'course I'm about the most social person I know...  :-\

Richard, Iron Rangers are people from northern MN in  the iron range. Hibbing MN is one of the Iron range cutural centers. Probably more bars than churches there.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Bike, car, truck, firearms...none mix with alcohol.  While it might have been the correct thing to call the police, in some instances if the idiot isn't going to in any way endanger anyone but himself, let him crash.  he either lives and maybe learns a lesson or gets killed and we don't have to worry about him anymore.  Drink and drive and you reap what you sow.  No sympathy for such idiots.
