Mississippi girl battling leukemia bags a moose in Alaska
« on: September 19, 2009, 10:14:06 AM »
Due to the pictures I am not going to copy the article and post it.  You guys need to see the pictures so I am posting the link to the Fairbanks Daily News Miner.

Stuff like this makes me feel good.  Right back behind my house there is a Flood Control Project.  Hundreds of acres of meadows and woods.  Locals refrain from hunting there so the Disabled Vets in wheel chairs can hunt there and run the chance of getting a moose.

T'Sheal Pugh, 18, poses Friday afternoon, September 18, 2009, with the antlers of a moose she shot recently. Pugh, a recent high school graduate from Mississippi, has battled leukemia since the 9th grade. With the help of the Catch-a-Dream foundation and the guidance of local hunter Dan Himebauch, Pugh bagged her first moose on Tuesday.

Thanks for the story sourdough and skunk. It is awesome to see that some young people still have the dream to go on the hunt of a lifetime, rather than sit in front of a video game, or go to a skate park.

Wonderful story!  I will also pray for healing of her disease.

Aside from the benefit to the poor girl, it's great publicity for hunting and I am glad that there are organizations supporting this kind of work.

The ironic thing about this is that I know Dan, I see him almost everyday at the Alaska Club (Gym) we work out at the same time.  I will have to give him my congratulations for a job well done.

Thanks SD.  By chance, do you know where in Miss. she is from?  I'll do a story on her as well if I can locate her.
