« on: September 19, 2009, 02:09:31 PM »
I am looking for a LW lefty bolt gun. Preferably a short action stainless synthetic in 308 win weighing under 6.5 lbs. I have a Browning micro hunter in 7mm-08 and was concidering a big brother even though it is not SS but cannot find one anywhere. Suggestions ????

Under 6.5 pounds is kind of hard to do, I can't imagine much the 308 could do that the 7mm-08 couldn't.  Larry

How about a .308 Tikka T3 Lite Left-Hand Stainless. It's suppose to weigh in at 6 lbs., 3 ozs.

+1 on the TIkka

VERY fine rifles and shoot very well.  I have one in 30-06 and it shoots !

Some of the Savage rifles come smack on at 6.5 lbs. ..and they are not bad "out of the box" especially with the new accu-trigger.

Well I settled on the Tikka T3 lite stainless in 308 win as some of you suggested and mounted a leupold Vari X II 3x9 that I bought on sale a couple of years back. At first I did use the factory rings to get the first range session in but knew I would replace them just on looks alone. First couple of boxes on the breakin hovered around 1"-1.5" , not bad.   Next I replaced the rings with the DNZ mount, very solid I ended up liking more than I thought.  Following range session and first handload shot well under MOA.  Have to say so far I am very happy with this rifle.  I still love my browning 7mm-08 and know I dont think there is alot that the 308 will do better but now I have another light weight  deer rifle and that i wont worry about how much abuse the stock takes

Very nice Ken. Good shooting and great gun. I really like my son's .30-06 Stainless T3 Lite. Just can't get over how silky smooth the action feels right out of the box. The trigger is really nice too. His is also a left-hand model. Maybe I'll get one of those SS T3 Lites in 6.5 X 55 SE as an European Cousin to match my CZ 550 in the same chambering. ;)

A couple (3?) years ago I bought a Ruger Hawkeye in 257 Roberts on impulse.  Loved the cartridge but not favorabley impressed with the Ruger.  I should probably have gotten a Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 instead.

Since then the Ruger has moved on and I have a Rem. M700 Classic in 6.5X55, accurized by Hill Country Rifles, Inc. with Leupold FX-II 4X, which has scored on two antelope, two mule deer, and one elk in two seasons.  Obviously it works.  I still have a hankering for the Tikka T3 and I would put an Aimpoint on it.  Alas, how can I justify it when the Remington works so well?
